A petition in the House of Representatives to force a vote to compel the Justice Department to release the so-called Jeffrey Epstein files on Wednesday secured the last signature required to trigger that action.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.., within hours said that a full House vote on that effort will be held next week.
Rep. Adelita Grijalva, D-Ariz., provided the 218th signature needed to approve the so-called discharge petition shortly after she was sworn in as a House member, after a seven-week delay.

Whoever votes no on releasing the Epstein files is covering up for pedophiles and human traffickers.

Good news. Tired of the mental gymnastics I see trying to gaslight all of us about how Epstein and Maxwell acted alone

He wasnt really trying to get a vote to the floor. He was playing a little political theater.
He used a different type of voting mechanism that is used for noncontroversial things that get automatically voted yes by EVERYONE. These types of votes are decided ahead of time by leaders from both parties once they know EVERYONE will vote yes on them. Its used for things like making a minor change in a bill or accepting the minutes. Not whether to release the Epstein files.
He just skipped the part where he talked to the leadership of either party so he could do all this nonsense he is currently doing after the fact for whatever reason.

He made an improper unanimous consent motion and this wasn’t a serious effort.
Burchett could have signed the discharge petition months ago and the House would have been forced to hold a vote on releasing the Epstein files. But he didnt. That tells you everything you need to know about Burchetts intentions.

Whatever gets a “principled conservative” or a Democrat back in office is ok with me! So exciting.

Yawn… I thought that EVERYONE wanted the files released. That’s all we’ve been hearing. It should be unanimous, right??
When the rubber meets the road, we see who REALLY wants them released, and who is grandstanding…

Can the house force the executive to do anything?

When it’s released and doesn’t show what many want, they will say it’s a conspiracy and Trump is withholding info.
