Why wait 3 days? Something smells fishy about the whole thing.

A Level II Child Endangerment Alert, also known as a Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory, is a notification issued by the Louisiana State Police (LSP) for missing children who do not meet the criteria for an AMBER Alert. It is issued when a child is believed to be in danger but the situation is not considered an "imminent" threat to life, such as certain custodial issues or when there is not enough information for an AMBER Alert. The goal is to still get public assistance to find the child safely.

There were other local alerts issued prior. This is just the state police alert.

Why wait 3 days?
They’re even worse when it’s not a white kid.
I love all the downvotes for a true statement. I am not a bleeding heart liberal - far from it - but unfortunately I’ve worked long enough with kids to see trends.

Did you not read the article? LSP released the alert roughly an hour after being contacted by APSO.

Crazy. Are they going to find this one in a box in PA too?

Just hope you don’t get a call from a brown friend when their kid goes missing and the police won’t help.

Just where would one find the statistics for how police handle missing kids based on their skin color? Anything else is speculative

It does matter when the kid gets reported by the parents though.
I would bet quite a bit of money one side calls to report a missing kid faster than the other.
Just my observation.

Well if this isn’t the first time it would explain why the LE were slow to do anything.

I watch OPL... they have a whole think for "brown" people... It's called the Black and Missing Foundation.
I can't say I've ever seen a white and missing hotline.

What protocols are not being followed?
I remember reading in this missing kid thread who was found in Pennsylvania that one of the alerts wasn’t done initially as she left on her own and of her own free will. I can’t remember her age, and she might have been older than 13. I can’t remember if there is a set delay to not have it go off for runaways or kids leaving to blow off steam and then returning the next morning or if proof is required of real danger or an unknown adult involved. They later found the tablet with the conversations and grooming then the videos from the bus station with her and a 2nd adult, but the family admitted up front she left on her own and by herself.
If the alert needs to change in the law than that should be worked on, but don’t blame the cops following the law correctly (if they actually are).
Sometimes the issue with black kids running away or missing is the black community’s mistrust of the police gets in their own way just like with most other crime in their neighborhoods. Also, when white kids get a lot of press it’s started by friends, family, and other students and so on with a grassroots effort that goes viral. Others sometimes just expect it to happen on its own with putting in the same amount of community effort at the start or that it should be done by others.

I live in this area. It’s a brutal strip to attempt to walk anywhere, and probably 95% of the houses she’d pass would have cameras. I don’t know how she could vanish without being caught on camera. I pray she’s safe.

Missing kids who live at home with mom and dad, whose parents know where they are 99% of the time, who go to bed at 8:30 and have a regular schedule of extracurriculars and school involvement...will get far more immediate attention from police than kids in high risk areas who hang out with groups of teens in the middle of the night and have irregular schedules and whose parents or caregivers frequently don't know where they are or who they're with.
I'm sure some black kids in the former category (or akin to it) have occasionally had to overcome some bias due to the latter category, and that truly does suck. But those biases are probably borne of LEO experience.
