LSU's entire athletic department will suffer from this. Verge isn't just a lifer but he's an inconsequential lifer who is a figurehead (for the Governor). I voted for Landry but Landry has turned LSU into amateur night at the Apollo.

Penn State fired James Franklin but they are paying up plus it looks like Franklin is moving on to another head coaching job very soon.

Louisiana, the state I love, is indeed a legal backwater. This is so stupid.

I hope they're vetting bottom of the barrel candidates, because no attractive coaching prospect in demand is going to come work for this shite show.

If the goal is to set Verge up to fail (it very well may be) they are doing an excellent job so far.

Agreed.

They’ve destroyed one of the most important economic contributors in our state. They’ve set LSU athletics back a decade

I’ll be surprised if LSU football recovers from this for a very long time.

Was Franklin playing 400 rounds of golf in less than four years?

Did Franklin not know some of his players names?

Did Franklin drink wine in the office?

Did Franklin have an affair?

Was Franklin not loved by his players?

The difference is Franklin is known to be a good man is beloved by his players and had many successful seasons at Penn State

None of the above is true of Kelly.

Kelly did not put his best into the job that he was hired to do

The point here is that yeah we have a contract, but it’s understood that you’re going to put your heart and soul into the job to win

I don’t think anybody questioned Franklin‘s heart and soul into helping Penn State win a championship. He just wasn’t able to get it done.

I trust everybody can see the difference

Definitely feels to me Kelly is trying to get paid and avoid the offset provisions. He isn’t playing nice.

Nope. I’ve known Verge for over 25 years. He is an extremely intelligent administrative professional that has a deep understanding of athletics (esp football). He is absolutely a capable (soon to be successful) AD.

Be mad at Woodard, Kelly and Landry if that soothes some of the pain, but Verge is solid.

And now maybe you see why many people said to just revamp the coaching staff, give BK another year and start to put things in motion on amore efficient exit plan. The timing, manner and scope of this is just stupid.

The best part of all of these threads is that peasants with no experience in anything Athletics related are jumping to conclusions based on a lawsuit. If there is cause, it'll get settled in discovery. If not, LSU will pay up. It's that simple.

Where it gets messy is if it is determined that LSU doesn't have cause and they still drag it out. That's where other coaches may be hesitant. This will take a few years to play out and I don't think this will hurt a big name guy coming in for a 3-5 year contract.

Enjoy football obscurity then, because that's exactly what LSU is signing you up for.

If he is capable and will soon be successful, why has he never been an AD anywhere else? We’ve just had this diamond in the rough sitting in the athletics building waiting for his chance when the athletic department inevitably implodes due to Louisiana politics?? Genuine question
