Seriously what happened to Nuss? I have never seen such a regression

I think the O line was the biggest downfall, which to give BK credit, he said was the biggest weakness going into the season when asked.
But I never imagined it would be that bad
Was is it his injury? I don’t buy that one as much
Was it that he got lazy? I could see a 22 year old getting over 2 million and not working as hard
But for all the bashing he gets that he’s the worst qb and worst tiger ever is a little much
The guy threw for over 4000 yards and had 30 tds last year
Total epic collapse of a returning starter that I have ever seen

Don't know if we will ever get the whole truth on what happened this season, but the issue now is if he gets drafted, will he make an NFL team and if so, will he show something that was absent from this season.

He didn't really improve over the offseason. Add in the fact that he was injured and his offensive line is much worse than last year and the result is going to be regression.

Before the season started he had the knee injury in camp, to what extent who knows. Then we hear about the oblique injury, again to what extent who knows. Those two injuries, terrible o line, no run game, and probably the injuries creating some mental block/yips has created the lackluster results we have seen. Sucks because I had high hopes he would do well. Wasnt expecting some Heisman campaign but for him to sling it around and hopefully clean up some of the decision making errors from last year.
At the end of the day there's something physical going on limiting his play. Even if he became a lazy bum in the offseason (which I doubt) nobody forgets how to throw bombs and sling it around.

The injury + soft arse prep school mentality + really awful coaching and play calling = 2025 Nuss.

57 got burned all night. That is part of this issue. But I agree. Regression

I went back and watched some 2024 Nuss last week. He was confident, and he held the ball for a long time. You can be confident standing in the pocket for 4-5 seconds when you have an elite combination of tackles. Take that luxury away, and he's got little confidence and doesn't quite have the talent to thrive under constant pressure.

This is 100% it.

I think it was part of it but not the big issue.

By all acounts, people in fall camp said that he looked really good, accurate and decisive. I don't think he didn't work hard.

I could not agree more. It's honestly disgusting.
To me, this is just a case of shellshock. He has the happiest of happy feet right now because he clearly has no faith in this OL and neither does the staff. It's no coincidence that the play calls include so many screens, quick plays, misdirection plays, etc. This staff doesn't trust the OL at all either. Now look, Nuss has been far from perfect. I've been beating this drum all season, everything you hate about this offense is because of the offensive line. Garrett and the entire offense for that matter are playing with absolutely no confidence right now and no flow at all.

Nuss plays like he doesn’t study film and practice around film study with his OL and WRs. He just looks unprepared. Burrow and JD used to talk about using LSU VR room to prepare for games. I have never heard Nuss talk about VR room use publicly. Not saying he is not using I’m just pointing out that he looks unprepared going into games and his comments to the public don’t reflect focused preparation like other LSU QBs.

At times even when he has good blocking, he still can't seem to see the open WRs or make a good decision back there.

I find it interesting how badly he regressed, Klubnik, Drew Allar, etc. a lot of big time quarterbacks. You could maybe throw Arch on the list even though he didn’t have a body of work.
The only other thing I see in common with all of them is they all got paid a lot of money. They got comfortable.
Perhaps too comfortable to keep improving.

If he makes a 53, it's because someone is doing a favor for his dad.

I think part of the problem was the O line which has led to problems with the run game. That being said, teams started realizing that you could use 3 & 4 man rushes and break through the line and drop 7 or 8 in coverage. So now Nussmeier is seeing too many of "them" as opposed to us. Sure our guys are getting open downfield, but it is now taking longer to find the seems and gaps, and with his line being so weak he stats doble guessing.
To counteract that, he's relying on short passes and screens.....only problem is, that is what the defense wants

Lazy off season, no heart (Les), $2m in the bank. Dropped like a lead balloon. He was the 2nd highest favorite to win the Heisman at the beginning of the season. Adios.

It’s a shared blame of scheme, OL, and Nuss himself not putting in the work.
His mechanic issues and inability to read a D lie squarely on him.
I think the scheme and OL
issues have caused him to pout and take 0 accountability for any of it. Lesser qbs have done more with far less at their disposal than he has.

Nuss is a guy that needs a really good OL and a strong run game to be successful. He can’t beat you with his feet and make the defense account for him as a runner. Our opponents know he’s a sitting duck in the pocket with a putrid OL in front of him and they are coming after his arse. It’s the reason he doesn’t throw deep or over the middle of the field. Everything is quick, out breaking routes because the protection hardly ever holds up.

Right, and my post wasn't to defend him as much as it was to diagnose what's happening and that's what I meant by he's seeing ghosts. Even when the blocking is decent, he is so mentally ratted from taking the beating all year that his processing is off. We even see this in the NFL. The Giants beat the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl because Strahan and that D Line assaulted Tom. Pressure impacts QB's at every level.

Regression happens. Look at how strong some of the Miles era QBs started? People act like Nuss was a world beater. He was always just ok. He was expected to take a huge jump this year. He did not. He regressed. It happens. It’s probably a combination of the entire situation. Blame it all.

I’ve always thought he was a head case and a detriment. I never seen what you guys did. Him being in the Heisman talk a couple months ago was some of the stupidest shite I’ve heard.
