Lindsey Scott Jr coaching at Texas Tech

Something worth keeping an eye on. Lindsey Scott Jr. is now the assistant QB coach at Texas Tech under Mack Leftwich. He’s been with Leftwich the last few years, first as an analyst at Texas State and before that as his QB at Incarnate Word when they lit up the FCS.
That 2022 season under Leftwich, Scott threw for 4,600+ and 60 TDs, ran for another 700+, and now he’s been part of back-to-back top-15 offenses at Texas State. He’s learning how to build and teach those systems from the inside out.
If LSU ends up looking for a young QB coach who understands modern spread concepts, and RPOs, Scott is the kind of guy who’d fit. Could be a really sharp developmental piece for a guy like Peyton Houston. Same frame, same skill set, and someone who could relate on both the player and technical side.
Not saying it’s happening, just makes a lot of sense schematically. Also not trying to trigger anyone with the stuff we went through with Joe Sloan but Scott could end up being a damn good OC for someone in about 3-4 years. Could be us if he proves to be a damn good QB coach.

I’m still pissed that his handlers directed him to LSU. When you have a full ride to Harvard, you go to Harvard. If you can play football, the NFL will find you. Worst case scenario, you have a degree from Harvard.

excuse my ignorance on this but i'd never heard this before. if it's true that he passed up a full ride to harvard whoever was in his ear giving him advice deserves to be beaten.

That is surprising. Still too young for a full time position coach, but Texas Tech is a good spot to learn.

Well if this coaching thing works out and LSU gives him a fully guaranteed $100M contract in a few years I'd say he made the right choice

Long shots vs sure things. If he had that kind of coaching acumen, it would still be there, and he would have a Harvard degree.
There is no excuse for directing that kid to LSU except personal greed.

You don't know his situation. A lot of people play college ball with full intention of getting into coaching knowing they will never make the NFL. He played a lot of years for a lot of different schools. I'm guessing he probably chased around some good up and coming offensive minds thru the portal and built a lot of connections for a future coaching career that he wouldn't have developed at Harvard. Maybe he knew from the beginning he wanted to be a coach and started developing his tree.
If he had a full ride to Harvard he's probably very intelligent and independently made the decision himself rather than just doing what others told him to do

I'm not assuming anything, you are. I'm saying we don't know his situation so why judge it? Everything I said before could very well be true, neither of us know. Idk why you think we know better than him about his own life choices. You don't have all the information and you're coming off as quite arrogant

Yea sorry for that. But it's a good post. I didn't realize Scott was coaching. I like what Leftwich is doing over there. He's a good guy to learn from and it can benefit us when people with Louisiana connections make it up the coaching ranks.

LOL. Lindsey Scott's Father ruined his career and credibility. Clown had him go to 5 different colleges.
All that energy and he was never a FBS QB. Seems to me he was allergic to work and earning his way up a depth chart.

Harvard accepts about 6% per year. If Lindsey Scott is my boy, I’d do anything within the law to get him there.
