LSU wanted him before BK. It’s basically the game, everyone look over this way with Kiffin, Brohm, Dillingham, bc this is where all the action is happening, in the meantime on the other side no one will see Lincoln coming! Keep a very close eye for this move. It could be Lincoln.

I, for one, would be incredibly disappointed with that hire.

I think every fan should just accept that the hire will be disappointing.... it will make the reality of it easier to handle.

Verge was there when the Riley deal went up in smoke. He would need to have a lot of forgiveness I'd imagine.

The problem is with LSU fans, especially football fans and I have been one since 1964. You're not going to please everybody 100%. Even the talks of Nick Saban. Even if he were to come back, there were people poo pooing on the idea of not liking it because of his age. You're not going to please everybody. So you pick the coach you let him come in and make us talk. Hopefully be a cultural fit and let's go from there. I remember when we hired Jerry dinardo back in the days when faxing was the big deal. I faxed every board of supervisor Joe Dean about do not hire this loser. This dude has done nothing at Vanderbilt and it's a knee-jerk decision. I got a personal letter written back from Joe Dean saying it was not a knee-jerk decision that they made and studied his previous coaching career and I'll be darn. If it wasn't correct, Bernardo came in and he did bring back the magic. It's unfortunately that he was too stubborn to get rid of Lou tepper and made Pete Jenkins, his defensive coordinator. Who knows history may have been rewritten and Saban may have never gotten here but you're not going to please everybody. So just make a decision. Go with it and let's go Tigers

So for a soft team like LSU has become, you want to hire a coach that has a history of running from competition Yep, that makes sense

I wouldn’t hate it at all. Yes our dumb fans would, but getting a guy who has 3 heisman winners in 8 years makes us almost a guarantee for elite QB play/talent.

In terms of being a dominant program, there are only a few things that lead to equal or more success than getting that part right.

Get the D coordinator hire right and don’t see how he isn’t successful.

Riley didnt run from competition, he ran to a big paycheck, and the LA lifestyle, and weather. Wouldn't blame him, other than actually being in LA.

There's a lot of smoke to that. Apparently Lincoln wants out of USC bad.

Well on this topic, I guess I'm just more of a realist... because those that may not have liked the idea and say it's because of his age, are actually people that don't want to admit that it was just nonsense. It's not about his age... it's about the fact that it's just not a true possibility.

Nope, wrong again. Funny how he's now been lobbying and wanting to go to Texas Tech since the Pac 10 merged with the Big Ten and he has semi togher schedule at USC.

Reports are his buyout is astronomical. Private school though so not publicly known.

I’ve heard somewhere north of $80,000,000.

Same here. We'd continue to be soft. I want a hard nose, tough team. With that comes a firey, motivated coach.

Lincoln Riley is more of a bad fit here than Kelly was.

His defenses are notoriously soft. His offenses are geared around finesse and not power. He's not a very charismatic guy and would probably have trouble getting along with the powers that be, similar to Kelly.

His offenses do well against bad defenses, but do meh against good ones and there are several good ones in the SEC.

With all the Lane to UF smoke, I could see LSU landing Lane and Riley going to UF.

That’s what USC has to pay Riley to leave. If he wants to leave early for another school it’s closer to 10 million from what I see online.

There are a few potential hires that would be more disappointing

But not many.
