Going to Madison this weekend to check off a Badgers game off the bucket list with some friends.

Know there are some Badger fans on here and others who have gone to a game there, so wanted to see if any of you had any recs of places we should hit up tonight/tomorrow before the game, things we can’t miss other than Jump Around, etc. We’re in our early to mid 30s, so can do college bars or the older crowd too.

Any suggestions on where to catch the LSU game after that’s in walking distance of the stadium would be much appreciated too!

It'll be chilly but drinking at the Union is a fun start to the day. It's right on the lake.

HoopsGalore is the Madison expert here. Might want to search his posts. Met up with him when Bama played there last year and had a great time. He is about y'alls age so all of his suggestions should be right up your alley.

Wisconsin sucks so their fans will be cool and fun and not complete dbags. Madison is a wonderful place. Always enjoy watching the black and gold glory win there.

Madison is a great time and fun for a game.

State Street has a lot of the college bar crowd there. Old Fashioned downtown is really cool for a restaurant.

The Union (have a Spotted Cow and a brat) and a walk up State Street are must-do's and the bars around the stadium on Regent Street should be good before and after the game, despite the deplorable play of the team this year.

Yessir! Was a fun with weekend with ya, man

OP, hit the Travel and Food/Drink boards. I should have plenty about Madison if you run a Search. I probably can't give you too much of a fresh post right now. Have some friends visiting me in Chicago and took PTO today for drinking.

Immediate suggestions without detail: Willy Street for quality food, Public Parking and Robin Room for cocktails, Capitol Square for bars with more young professionals, lower (west) end of State Street for undergrad bars, Regent Street for beer gardens on Saturday (weather will suck).

Madison is fricking awesome but I feel bad this bucket list trip is happening when it is... That stadium is going to be a mess tomorrow. Weather aside, I wouldn't expect close to a full crowd, or a good atmosphere even if the weather was cooperating Depressing times in Madison. At least basketball is good.

Thanks for all the recs!

Yeah, I know. It was the only weekend that worked for everyone, but should still be a blast.

Love Madison! No one that goes there ever has a bad time! I recommend you check out Mickey Dairy Bar! Brings back memories of my college years visiting as a student!

Madison will be a shell of itself.
With the Fickell era we are near an all time low.
Prepare for a letdown in the Stadium.
Maybe 50k? Sad times.

The gameday atmosphere will be pretty lame i am guessing.

Nothing like precovid seasons.
