Engine failures again caused by turbos. The toyota bros told us these were nothing to worry about and everything had been fixed.

Can you quote where in the article it says the turbo is the cause of the failures?

5th gen 4Runner owner checking in… not buying a new one with a 4 banger and a turbo.

This isn’t because of turbos it’s because of engine debris left during the machining process.

Just like with the last recall that has Toyota replacing more than 100,000 V6s, machining debris could potentially be found inside the engines]

My 24 GX has 27k miles and no issues. I am changing oil at twice the recommended intervals because no way 10k intervals are sufficient. No recall yet.

I bought a 2020 Tundra last January because I wanted the 5.7 liter V8.

She runs like a top.

Real Toyota bros know.

Why does such a well respected brand have such shitty QA/QC? Seems to not fit with the whole "best thing ever" idea that the cult has.

Evidently, quoting is as well.

If the OP would have read the article, he would have known the turbos are not the failure mechanism.

How hard is it to clean out machining debris?
Hire a minimum wage employee with a vacuum or power washer?

As a Chevy guy I totally identify with the 5.7 Toyota bros.

Got a 2013 Silverado with 140k on the 5.3 and will drive it until it stops.
