Musk threatened to walk away from Tesla if shareholders don’t approve his demand of a $1 trillion pay package, which includes 12% of Tesla stock. Musk said he want enough voting control to have a strong influence but not so much that he can’t be fired if he goes berserk.

75% of shareholders voted to give him what he asked for but there are conditions. The package is an equitable pay for performance deal.

The math works out to shareholders getting a 550% return (after dilution) if the goals are met.

Entirely performance based. No salary. This is exactly how we want to pay our coaches.

He paid like 500 million in taxes last year. What would be awesome is if dumbass liberals understood how taxes work.

That doesn’t mean much without knowing the time period. What is the annualized return (or over what period is this)? Thanks

Right, a lot of ambitious things have to happen for him to get the full compensation

All that being said, I'm going to start scooping up a lot of additional shares of Tesla. There are things that I don't like about the guy but I'm not going to bet against him when he has this much on the line.

Do you have a link to support your claim of Musk paying 500 million in income taxes in 2024?

It was easy to find that Tesla paid zero Federal taxes last year on income of $2.3 Billion but I do not see anything about Musk's 2024 taxes.

Imagine creating jobs or advancing technology like common folk…

Oh yeah, we’ve already done that. It’s called the dark ages. Moron.

WTF does that have to do with what Elon personally paid?

550% in 7.5 years? And starting from today’s high valuation? If he does that he deserves everything he gets.

It reminds me of the former CEO of Chenier. They were building out LNG import terminals to supply America with foreign gas, when the shale boom hit and we became awash is natural gas.

The CEO, Charif Souki, lobbied the US government to change laws against exporting hydrocarbons, flipped the facilities around, and started exporting the LNG. The rebound in stock price triggered an incentive that drove his 2013 earnings to $142 million. But he made $2 billion for the shareholders the previous year, and the market cap zoomed up from there.

No company pays taxes, but their customers do.

I love hearing stories of folks not paying much in taxes.

The poster above said Elon, not Tesla.

Elon paid $11B in taxes in 2021. Not sure about year.
