Let's have a conversation out of the box regarding Saban...

Let's list any and all the potential positives that Saban would bring to the LSU program for the next 3-4 years. I'll start....
1- Stabilize the program both internally and national perception. Let's face it, LSU has taken a public relations hit with the BK debacle.
2- LSU would have some of the most talented coordinators/analysts groping to come to learn under Saban, and get on his 'coaching tree' for their future.
3- Recruits, both HS and portal players, would give LSU under Saban a strong opportunity to recruit and develop them. Bag money would still be the recruiting leader most likely, but being under Saban could be the 'cherry on top' that brings top players to LSU again.
4- Your turn

#3 is not a guarantee in my opinion. I think portal guys would jump at LSU, but I don’t know that we would see a massive uptick in HS recruiting because everyone would know that it will be a short stint for Saban if he were to come and other big time schools could sell against that.

Yeah, honestly, I wouldn't even be concerned with winning a natty if we got Saban.
I would be more interested in the long-term stability he would bring to our program long after he is gone.

Knowing that he is not going to be here long does not help with the high school kids. Saban was at his best when he cold develop guys for a couple of years and had a very strong 2 deep roster. He would surely whip the program into shape but the idea that he would automatically create some juggenaught in 3 years is not a sure thing.

I think there is a mix of guys. Smaller school and guys in a bad situation jump to big programs to showcase themselves on film for NFL guys and for a payday. But yes for every one of those guys, there’s a mercenary looking for a pay day

Leave a stable position where I will not have to work hard to establish a culture and everything is in place to retire. Leaving because si am sick of the new age of college football. Leave a great retirement gig to go to a place that is a mess at age 74 and risk the end of my career being a failure tarnishing my legacy. Still have to deal with the new age of college football.
You all need to give this lunacy a rest. It is not good for your mental health.

He turned down the offer so none of it really matters.

This kept Les Miles at the helm for a long time before he had to rely on his own abilities.

It was one of the main reasons he said he retired in the first place. He couldn't get quality coordinators to come because they wanted some guarantee of his longevity and he couldn't give it to them.
