I kind of love this. But he should have taken this opportunity to remove the entire Little Debbie Aisle from food stamps.

the tariffs are suppose to decrease the burden of income taxes, not just fund bullshite that non tax paying idiots feast on.

Because WIC is more focused on the actual nutritional needs of prenatal women and early childhood development. It is supposed to be limited to foods of nutritional value to prevent the malnourishment of children in critical stages of development (hopefully keeping them from becoming future wards of the state due to stunted development.)
It's a government program so it still sucks and probably is rife with fraud, but if you don't want irresponsible women to murder unborn children, you do have to keep them from starving before and after they're born.

Choice. I can choose to not pay "taxes" with tariffs by buying domestic. It's also a consumption tax. You spend more, you pay more. I don't get that option with income taxes. I literally get punished for working more or by just being successful.
Plus, you pay the same tariff regardless of your income. No more is half the country not contributing. You can't get more in EIC than you paid in taxes.
If all tariffs are paid by the importers, it removes the need for individual tax returns and much of the IRS. That's smaller government.
Tariffs are simply a better system. Our Founders used tariffs. Our current leaders want more of your income. Which group is more likely to have the nation's best interest at heart?
