Looks like Woodward didn’t save football after all

By firing Wade to appease the NCAA, and hiring McMahon. Karma’s a bitch.

Wade didn't escape sanctions. LSU was hit with sanctions. While neither were particularly harsh (relatively speaking), it's not like they didn't get hit with anything. That leaves two questions than can't be answered, but only speculated:
1. Would LSU's/Wade's sanctions been worse had Wade remained LSU HC?
2. Would LSU with Wade and those sanctions have been worse over the last three seasons than they have without Wade.
IMO, the answer to No. 1 is "yes", the sanctions for (at least LSU) would have been harsher. However, as to No. 2, I think the answer is "no". McMahon has been the biggest "miss" on a major coaching hire since Hallman. Even other guys who eventually struggled and were fired had some degree of success (Smoke, Trent Johnson, Jones, Orgeron). McMahon, like Hallman has had none.

YEP- he should have done more diligence when we saw what kansas was doing- That was bad management of the situation- completely crashing Basketball into a dumpster fire- With Wade we made tournaments and the buzz around basketball was good

He wasnt "one of them" if he had been one of them libs, he would still be the coach.

I'm on the train that he fired Wade because Collis Temple was all up in his ear.

Both can be true, and I suspect the NCAA was giving them advice via back channels. The inclusion of football in the NOA casts a different light on this than those places that only had MBB as the focus, IMO.

There was a whole lot more going on behind the scenes with Wade. I am Wade's number one fan, but he lied to Woodward over and over again about the allegations.

He planned on firing Wade from the moment he became AD.

One of these is not like the other..

He just hated Wade. It was personal.
Woodward never thought about how that would impact the players on that roster.

I never bought and still don’t buy that Basketball and Wade was sacrificed for football. But if it were true I 100% would support that. LSU is a football school first. BB is a distant 2nd or 3rd.
