November 15, 2025 is a VERY VERY important election for East Baton Rouge Parish (including folks who live in City of SG who think they no longer live in Baton Rouge).

We have a very important TAX vote, primarily considering the renewal and re-dedication of excessive Library Tax to General Fund (Proposition 1 of the Sid Edward's THRIVE Plan).

(YES or NO ??)
Proposition 1 is a renewal of excessive Library Tax and then part of this tax (2.8 of 11.1mils) will be redirected to General Fund for essential services

YES - would renew library tax, but then redirect part of this tax (2.8mils of 11.1 mils) for General Fund.

NO - would eliminate tax and new plan will need to be issued.

YES on
Proposition 2 is a renewal of taxes for mosquito control

frick NO !!
Proposition 3 is a dedication of taxes for Council on Aging.
(Council on Aging is a total waste of taxpayer money)

I would prefer that more of the library tax be rededicated to General Fund.

Only 2.8 mils of the 11.1 mil tax will be redirected to General Fund. Really needs to be the other way. We way over pay for library tax when that money needs to go to essential services like police, roads. and effective court system.

How do you other folks plan to vote?

The library and BREC have surplus money. The first responders are in a deficit. I personally think some of that money should go to first responders. Hell, BR is ranked #3 in most dangerous cities in the United States per capita. I would rather safety over library and brec.

I will say, im not able to vote because I dont live in EBR

Why renew a tax and then split it up after? Why not put forth 2.8 mils for emergency services and 8.3 mils for the library?

No thank you. Why would I vote against my own best interest in renewing, re-allocating or repurposing a tax?

I live in Zachary and I’m not voting to repurpose or reallocate that tax either

Initially I was against it, but I changed my mind. It isn’t a perfect plan, but it’s better than doing nothing.

I agree that the Library, MARC, and COA are getting too much money. They do not need all they are getting, but I am for a good Library system and good varmint control. The COA is shady and needs to be watched better, but a lot of the elderly get help there.

I believe all the “savings” realized from these taxes should go strictly to parish services. The DA, stormwater dept., the Sheriff and parish debt need to be addressed. No strictly city services should be funded.

Is that guaranteed? I don’t think so, but I think a YES vote insures that the agencies won’t be overfunded and some parish services will get more funding.

The new plan is not perfect, but it appears to be better than what we have now.

Because they want to ride the feel good coattails of renewing a library tax.

If you don’t want it going to the general fund, then you have to vote against the library renewal.

Very sleazy way to ask for money.
