611 Total yards and 528 passing yards. Mistakes enbabled that final to be somewhat competiitive. LSU could have won more like 49-14. But, 35-21 worked out fine.

November 3, 2001: LSU 35 Alabama 21

Was at that game. Reed was insane. Very enjoyable game in Tuscaloosa.

Having a QB that can read a defense and isn't scared to take a hit is nice.

That 2007 game was annoying. Shouldn’t have even been close.

The early 2000s was the most euphoric period in LSU football. What an unexpected and glorious ascent it was. From a losing record to an NC in just four short years. I loved that Bama game.

That was the first LSU game I ever went to. I wasn’t into college football at all until my dad took me to the game. It definitely got me interested. What a game! There was a terrible call by the refs at some point. It may have been a fumble, and this was before they reviewed instant replay. The play was shown over and over on the big screen and eventually the call was reversed in favor of LSU. This was a pretty pivotal moment if I remember correctly

You are thinking of the 2000 home game, not 2001, which was in Tuscaloosa. Either way, they were both great games. 2000 ended the home losing streak to Bama.

I remember Davey slingshotting a completed pass with two linebackers hanging on him, dude was stout.

I remember the two students who ran onto the field wearing hard hats. Everyone thought it was some planned entertainment during the commercial…until they both mooned the crowd.

That sounds more like the 2000 game in Baton Rouge.

Ah man, that brings back memories. I was in a bivouac in Camp Livingston, and it was raining it's arse off. Luckily some of the senior NCO's snuck an ice chest of beer in one of the Duece and a halfs, and we had a radio. We hunkered down staying out of sight and out of mind drinking beer out of our canteens and listened to Josh Reed destroy the tide. Man those were the good days.

1993, when pigs flew. Probably more apt to the current situation.

Unranked 3-5 LSU vs #5 Alabama in Tuscaloosa. That would be the only top 5 victory in Curly's coaching tenure at LSU, and his second of two victories over ranked opponents (the other over #10 Moo State a year earlier) at LSU. Probably got him one more year. Lynn Amadee was in his first of 2 years as Curly's OC.

Good point, I didn't really read the "on this date" part of the title.

Ivory Hilliard with two interceptions and pitched them both on the returns. One to Tory James and the other to Anthony Marshall.

I remember the headline in the Times Picayune said "Pass Happy Tigers " and had Rohan on the cover. I kept the clipping during my high school days.
