There are a few subreddits I like so I visit often. My feed is showing me r/complaints and reading it shocks me.
They have some of the most hateful and rage filled discussions of Trump and republicans I’ve ever seen, mocking Erika Kirk, basically calling her a whore.
I’ve been reading Helter Skelter lately and I’m getting serious Manson family vibes from these people.

Echo chamber. If you tried to make a post calling that poster an a-hole and defending Erika Kirk you would be banned. If 2024 taught me anything, is that they believe their own bullshite, but the rest of the US is fairly oblivious to Reddit.

You read the wrong subreddits. I read about my favorite sports teams, history, music, tv shows, sometimes an ask me anything can be interesting. Hardware and Home fixxer upper for me, gardening and cooking for my wife.
Politics almost never comes up on those sites. It's like this site, you want politics, come here, you want, say, music, there is a forum for that too where politics is a topic not really talked about.

It is a be level of vileness. I literally cannot believe what I read there- these are the people in a culture who bring the mass murder. It’s truly sickening. Just go to Complaints Subreddit- and bring a barf bag. It makes me want to give them the world they think they want- just to see them try to survive it. They inherently don’t understand why they shouldn’t douse themselves in gasoline and then go by the fire.

If you want to learn about reddit, pick a topic that you really really know about. Then go to the subreddit for that topic and read some of the comments. They are the most ill informed group of people on the planet, on everything that isnt weirdo freak stuff.

Oh for goodness sakes out of thousands of subs I am sure you can find some that are political and should not be. I check subreddits for teams like the Mets and Knicks and Jets nearly every day and politics (like the election - Mandani, Cuomi) never comes up. The rare times when politics might come up (rarely) is if it directly related to the game/sport like the Mets owner wanting to build a casino in the parking lot (when, where and if a casino should be built is really and inherently political question). But apart from exceptions like that, those are politics free. How much politics in on the Pelicans subreddit right noiw?

I don’t understand the utter wallowing in hatred that many people do on line day after day after day.
It’s like smelling your own farts, gagging, and then doing again.
I don’t enjoy the feeling of being enraged. I try to avoid it if possible. I was never enraged during the previous admin. I don’t understand democrats. I am shocked that so many in the country lack basic knowledge of civics and history. Im scared that there have been so many illegals in our country that its cultural identity is dying. BUT Im not screaming in all caps about murdering my opponents, calling names, and celebrating their deaths.
There is a metal health crisis and it won’t be solved when Trump is out of office. It is too advantageous to Dems to have an angry mob that can be easily organized and manipulated. Im bewildered they call conservatives “cult followers”.
