Kiffin may leave Oxford, but not for Baton Rouge. More likely the NFL

That would also be a concern if he were at LSU.

Why hasn’t Lane signed the extension? I’d be concerned too if were them. The NFL makes sense. Lane would fit there. He also may want to give it a shot. College football has basically turned into professional anyway. At least the NFL has contracts.

Do people not realize he was already an NFL HC?

Lane was the coach of the Oakland Raiders from 2007-2008. He did poorly in the NFL. He is not going back. He knows that he is better in college, just like Saban.

It was also only his second year as an HC under a terrible program and he was extremely young.

It makes perfect sense he might want to prove he can succeed in the NFL now.

LSU doesn’t play Florida in 2026.

Something to consider is that Saban is a mentor to LK. He’s probably told him about his experience with the NFL and his regret, and to be 1000% sure it’s what he wants to do.

Also, regardless of what he’s said publicly, Saban has probably told him about his experience at LSU. I suspect it’s largely positive.

Considering Lane was an NFL head coach right after Saban left the NFL to return to college, I doubt he has to tell him much. Do people really not remember that?

Saban became a mentor to Lane many years after that. He was OC for Saban 2014-2016. I’m talking Saban’s perspective and his relationship to Lane today.

I’m aware, I’m referring to the idea that he was just under a bad owner and those saying he’s headed back NFL.
