Holy shite. A minimal lead at all and he is easily safe. He is still barely off the freaking bag with the ball being delivered . He is closer to the damn bag than Muncy

Shoulda been off wayyy more. And he was a pinch runner for Bichette

That’s bad for a primary lead it’s catastrophic for a secondary lead
He damn near had to run the entire 90 feet

I would have serious psychological damage if I were a Jays fan given the crazy things that happened in Games 3, 6, and 7.

They didn’t deserve to win at all. They made little league type mistakes on the bases all series long

He also slid feet first on a force out at home. The slowest possible outcome you could have.
He would’ve been safe had he just ran through because the catchers foot came off the plate for a second.

Yeah the frick was he doing sliding there just run full speed through home plate or at least slide head first

How is IKF the best option they have off the bench there? The extra roster spot should have been spent on speed.

They had already used Myles Straw who is their legit speed man.

I agree, but to counter there was only 1 out and he couldn’t run on first contact if it was a line drive that was caught to avoid a potential double play.
Otherwise, yea a more typical lead rather than hedging towards 3rd base and he is safe.

It’s honestly shocking that he didn’t run through it. Yeah it’s unnatural to run through home plate on a bang bang play, but MLB players are so technically sound I couldn’t believe it when I saw him slide.

He isn't slow:

His 28.2 ft/s sprint speed ranked 61/689 out of all sprint speeds in the WS.
His lead just sucked:

His 7.8 ft primary lead ranked 357/381 out of all primary leads in the World Series.
His 8.9 ft secondary lead ranked 366/376 out of all secondary leads in the WS.

Any simulations of if he would have been safe to either A) run through the base, or B) slid head first?

As a Texas Rangers fan my stomach hurt last night remembering 2011 and how the Jays completely blew it

I would imagine he is also 100% safe if he does anything besides feet first slide

Lester bringing the facts

No. Look at the runner’s lead on 2B. He would have scored easily if only this lead.
The fielder double clutched and still threw him out. I wondered out loud about that last night and now know why.

Baseball 101 is you are at the very least as far off the base as the 3B is.
