And guess what? They'll keep doing it because the players union won't ever agree to stopping deferred deals.

There will likely be a lockout after next season because of it but the owners will cave eventually.

The CBT was agreed upon by both sides to prevent what is happening

Dodgers are massively exploiting a loophole and will keep doing it. It's akin to cheating just without the trash cans honestly.

No real achievement in winning a WS with a billion dollar roster.

I care nothing for the Blue Jays. But this is ruining the sport for everyone else.

It's not remotely an even playing field. And that's just a fact.

It’s the first time an MLB team has won back to back titles in 25 years.
I’d say you getting ahead of yourself.

The Yankees have been doing this shite for a 100 years.

At least Ohtani is likeable.

Buying titles is nothing new in pro sports. But the overall health of the sport is in bad shape when teams circumvent the CBT in such a prolific way.

Even if Toronto had won the point remains.

And the Dodgers ARE going to win it all again next year.

They are buying a championship level team every season and deferring over a billion dollars of salary. Of course they'll keep winning.

They were two outs away from not winning the game until Rojas hit a home run to send it to extras. There are no guarantees they’re winning next year. The offense and the team leaders will be another year older. Slow down some. Also, all teams could do what the Dodgers were creative enough to do with their money. Just because others haven’t doesn’t mean a thing. The rest will catch on and maybe they’ll invest as much in scouting other nations like Los Angeles has with Japan. It’s only taken decades for that investment to pay off with game changing players.

They should just buy the most expensive players again this offseason and just defer their contracts too. It's absolutely absurd.

Of course there are no guarantees, but the Dodgers roster is absolutely ridiculous.

Like that matters when you have that pitching staff.

This is what made this ball game so attractive to watch the dodgers super power on the line. A dynastic team. If it was pirates jays I may not even have watched

That roster is WHY the average sports fan even watched the playoffs. Your argument is shite when the Dodgers are one of the few teams bringing eyes to the television.

They were an out from losing the World Series with all the money spent or deferred. The players stepped up and made plays regardless of pay status. That's baseball. Other teams, and more importantly rival fans, dont like it, do better. Sour grapes are sour grapes no matter how theyre worded or what excuse is used to justify them.

Devil’s advocate question: So what? Having the league engineered so that 30 teams have “an even shot” IMO is as negative as someone “buying a title.” Throughout the history of baseball, there have always been franchises that have always been cannon fodder for other franchises. There was even a Broadway musical along those lines. Is what it is.

A rich guy buying a play pretty for fans to get excited about and feel fulfilled about - just like I do for my pets

What dodgers are doing is not much different than what clippers are accused of with Leonard

It’s ok, the lockout will cost ohtani a year in his prime
Ohtani probably has sasaki on his payroll
