Whenever Kelly came in he was saddled with Brad Davis as his OLine coach, one of the only coaches to remain from the previous staff. His OLines have failed to play up to the level needed in order to compete in the SEC, and yet he has been safe from any accountability. Then, right after getting embarrassed in our own stadium Woodward goes to Kelly and says we need to fire our OC. Kelly says good idea… let’s fire our OLine coach too because he’s been terrible. At this moment Woodward should have accepted that, yes, the OLine has been pretty terrible since Davis has been here and it was probably time to let him go. But that’s not what he did. He told Kelly no for some reason God only knows, he and Kelly get into it, and here we are. If Woodward would have agreed to can Davis, who is responsible for arguably the worst coached position group since Kelly has gotten here, Kelly and Woodward may both still be employed.

That tweet is a few days old. I thought these reports have already been refuted?

Woody's days were numbered the minute he refused to rehire Wil Wade like Landry asked him to.

I haven’t seen that they’ve been refuted. But it’s pretty telling that Brad Davis wasn’t let go whenever Woodward was still employed.

Maybe but we don’t need the governor telling our AD who to hire/fire

Given the other story that came out today talking about Woodward and a particular assistant coach, maybe it makes sense why Kelly wanted Davis gone too (and why Woodward said no)

I agree, just like our AD shouldn’t be telling the head coach who the OL coach should be.

Seems like the fuse was lit when the Brian Kelly contract was signed. If BK's teams would have exceeded expectations, the contract would not have mattered. My suspicion is Kelly would not have stayed long if he won a Natty in 2-4 years. He would have retired.

Jayden Daniel's senior year was the missed opportunity. If the defense was just average, the team would have competed for the Natty. But that didn't happen.

Woody had detractors for sure, like anyone, and when BK ran out of gas this year, it gave them all they needed to not only dismiss BK, but also to sideline Woody in the search for our next coach

When that happened, Woody know his days were numbered. He could not lead the department any longer.

I wish him well. He did a lot of good in his 6 years.

Curious who Brad Davis's agent is? Some of this really is starting to seem in classic Louisiana fashion, somewhat corrupted.

This story has never made sense. Why would Woodward care if he fired Davis?
