To be fair the modern day republican party would rip apart basically any republican from the 70s to the 2010's. You'd have to go back to McCarthy and his bunch to get anyone that actually would fit right in.

I use to read the Weekly Standard in High School. It was a great magazine back in the day. Kristol is a sad and pathetic man.

I think he was basically an unregistered lobbyist for years, under the guise of punditry. And when his funding ran out and the Weekly Standard folded, he went shopping for new income sources.
Don't know who the highest bidders were, but I believe he's for hire.
