The poorest people in this country have 4k tvs and 1000 dollar cell phones.

My wife grew up without running water or air conditioner in an open tin roof house with 7 siblings.

How many people do you think are videoing themselves complaining about losing snap…from an iPhone 15, 16 or 17? A 15 + monthly plan is probably $1200/yr and onwards, assuming poors don’t outright purchase their phones.
The OP didn’t even bring up designer clothing and accessories poor people love to buy. The only chance they have is to utilize them as a status symbol is driven by materialism. Or going out to a nice establishment for a meal they can’t afford, to take pictures and post them on their social media. Or going on trips they can’t afford, to take pictures to post on their social media. Fiscal responsibility is a massive issue in this country.
I make a very good salary and I’m wearing the same shite, using the same phone, driving the same car, etc, I did 5 years ago. Most of my liquidity is in investments and I bought a house at age 30, which is rare nowadays. The common response from the poors is I’m entitled and privileged, not to mention racist and bigoted. In reality, I just have a fully functioning brain

Ask your wife about 'the other side of the pillow'. We had no AC in New Iberia with 90 degree summer nights at 70% humidity. I bet she had to keep flipping that pillow over when it was getting sweaty.

Now. Everyone is flying all the dang time clogging airports and flights. When you readability average savings being $1000acrossrhe country, honestly, a $1000 TV makes more sense for the lower class to have than taking multiple airline trips every year.

4K TVs can be purchased for $350. That is the same, adjusting for inflation, that we paid for a portable black and white back with a 12 inch screen in the 70s.
