But Scott Woodward told him no.

Why are people upset about Jeff Landry’s involvement with LSU again? Clearly he has a better pulse on things than the current AD.

Very telling the kind of person you are if that’s all that you took from that article.

But Scott had to sacrifice WW and demolish the LSU basketball program to save football...so I'm told.

That now solidifies it would have been a disaster to bring Wade back at the time

I very seriously doubt that Jeff Landry even knew who Will Wade was. He just thinks it's politically expedient to mention him right now.

If your subordinate lied to you over and over and over again about the one thing that could get your company into serious trouble, would you keep him on payroll or hire him back?

I can almost guarantee it went like this:

Landry aide: man you see will wade is getting Mcneese into the tournament?

Landry: who’s will wade

Aide: the old LSU coach

Landry: oh didn’t get fired for paying players?

Aide: yeah

Landry: isn’t that legal now? Boy Scott needs to hire him back.

Because he is a tiny, idiotic loudmouth who literally has better things to do than go on Pat McAfee to flap his wee little gums about LSU football.

Because he went to USL.

It wasn't SW. It was the President. Which is part of the reason he is at Rutgers now. That said, SW doesn't trust Wade either.

But this is a little bit difference scenario. The money to buy out McMahon and hire a new basketball HC is much lower than the football expenses. Plus, the LSU basketball job was not in as high of demand as the football job is (or should be). For his part, Wade was at McNeese and a lot of major conf. schools (fair or unfair) were/are still leery of him. That's why he ultimately signed a relatively low contract at NC State. In fact, his base salary there is LOWER than McMahon's base this year at LSU. The ingredients were in place to get him to LSU at a relatively low price. There was a push (accounts of how strong it was varies), but it was rejected by the administration.

This is different. The football market LSU is in is MUCH higher than the basketball market. Football has the expectations to compete for a championship, now. Basketball doesn't. So the Gov going on ever media outlet he can to (a) say the AD has no power whatsoever and (b) the next coach should take a "low" salary isn't helping LSU, AT ALL

I went to USL, that isn't why I'm upset with him. If you think that's why people are upset with him, then you are as dumb as Landry is being right now.

^^^^^
This is where the Woodward/Landry feud started. Jeff wanted LSU to make a run at Will last March and Scott doubled down and kept McMahon.

He sacrificed Wade, then hired Kelly who demolished football.
