Now we sit here and pretend we can't get Curt Cignetti lured away from Indiana.

BTW, Cignetti and Saban have a relationship. Cignetti was hired by Saban from 07-10 and was saban's recruiting coordinator.

Cignetti's dad also first hired nick saban at west virginia.

Maybe this is why nick is telling lane to stay put cause he knows who our big whale is.

Cignetti is a better coach than Lane Kiffin.

Sort of not as relevant though, he came to LSU cause he wanted to coach at a better football environment. We can get Cignetti.

Saban came to LSU for 1.2 million dollars. It was around midnight and I was just south of Chicago when I heard the news over the radio.

Id like someone we can keep here long term

ETA: Cignetti just got paid 11M+, we don’t need to pay that much for him

We need to win. We don’t need to worry about 2034

eta: not even sure what this means? He's not worth more? YOu think we're getting lane for less than that? What are you saying?

We don’t need to win 1 championship & then do this all over again. We need the guy who can come in & win multiple

Are you proposing LSU make Cignetti the highest paid HC in America? Because that's what it would take for LSU to get him. He recently agreed to a contract that pays him $11.6M annually

Worrying about his age is tomfoolery.

Are you not? What are we even doing here then if we aren't trying to hire The best capable coach who is a grown up in the room and running a program to the fullest extent possible, offensive minded and has a saban connection background.

Hes fricking 64 years old and just took an extension. Not only do I not want him I don't think it would be smart to. We already hired a successful 60 yr old and it didn't work out. We don't need to do that shite again.

it does not matter. the goal is to win. you can cry about age all you want but we've said here and dreamed about bringing back saban who is 10 yrs older.

If we get 8 great years out of Cignetti, that's a HUGE WIN for the program.

15 million dollar out. That's all that matters. That's not a huge bump we can't handle.

Cignetti will never come to LSU. There is a certain faction that would undermine and fight him. He's a "lunch pale" kind of coach. Works for Indiana, but not at LSU.

Cignetti's profile:
quote:

Curt Cignetti, the head football coach at Indiana University, is renowned for his transformative impact across multiple levels of college football—from Division II to FBS—where he's engineered rapid program turnarounds. His style is often described as unapologetically aggressive, emphasizing an "attack" mentality that permeates both offense and defense. Influenced by his time under Nick Saban at Alabama and his father's legacy at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), Cignetti prioritizes discipline, physicality, and relentless preparation over star recruiting. He builds "Cignetti University" wherever he goes, focusing on evaluation, development, and a top-down culture of accountability.

It's not my money, but I don't think I'd want to sign him to an 8 year, $110M contract (which is likely what it would take to get him). He's done a great job at Indiana. No one can or will argue against that. But he's also had some good fortune. Last year IU played a really soft schedule and lost, but double digits, to the only two ranked teams they played. This year they have an excellent QB. But the draw to Indiana was not curt. It was his brother who was already on the team.

The point is do you have 100% confidence Curt could come to LSU and replicate his success at Indiana...immediately? Because that is what the expectation would be of the highest paid HC in America
