Anyone have a “fix” for insomnia?

Posted this on the health board a few days ago, but traffic there is a fraction of the GD. And, I could use some help as it’s getting bad.
Started this a few weeks back probably. I can drift off between 10-11, and then be nearly wide awake by 3-4AM. I usually glance at my phone for the time and if is 3 or so, my mind goes into “oh crap” mode. If I’m lucky I can drift off for some very fragmented sleep until 6 or 7.
What I’m trying: lower dose of trazodone usually 25-50 mg. Magnesium glycinate. All that’s good to get me nice and sleepy, but my body wakes up in fight or flight mode in the morning. I feel like crap, and developing anxiety over it tbh.
I called the VA and they’re getting me back in with my MH provider. They’re gonna push CBT-I and probably another off label med like Mirtazapine.
The only correlation I can think of is going on zepbound. VA put me on it for weight and sleep apnea. I am thinking my blood glucose might be dropping too low and causing a cortisol spike. I’m 30 lb from hitting my target weight so if this goes on I’ll come off the zep.
If anyone has any other ideas chime in. One more crappy night and I’ll be begging for the big guns like Ambien.

Could be that. Have you had a sleep study done? Sleep Apnea can cause similar symptoms.

Try not to move and keep the temperature lower. What makes you fall asleep is your heart rate decreasing and body temp falling.
Tossing and turning prevents that.
Also try not looking at a screen and/or eating for a few hours before bed.
Exercise throughout the day helps too.
Best,

Whatever you do, do not take Ambien. I can tell you from experience that it is awful what it does to you. It is dangerous.

Bro you’re awake right now on tigerdroppings, not sleeping. Snap out of it.

Try to sleep it off

Those semaglutides mess with your gall bladder which causes acid reflux to occur much easier and may be waking you up. Make sure to eat clean and not eat anything that could be causing acid reflux.
Or smoke a small bowl before bed. That usually does the trick for me.

Member of the Insomniacs club here, too. Feel narcoleptic most of the day. Can't offer a sure cure.

They did a sleep study last year. Came back mild to moderate sleep apnea. Forgot my score on it. Am I compliant with my cpap? Not really. The sleep I was getting on it was worse than what I’m experiencing now.

Extreme physical exhaustion. Run till you cant go anymore. Split wood with an axe till you cant go anymore. Next free day you have, exert yourself all day. 10 hours of non stop work. Whatever you can do. Dig a hole and fill it back up if you have to.

I had an appointment with a sleep doctor 12 days ago. I am on sleep restriction right now, but I’m sleeping through the night. It sucks. CBT-I is hard. It’s just sleep restriction with an anchor time. No meds or anything like that.

Believe me I’ve considered, more than once, going to Cincinnati to buy the “legal” gummies (Ohio is the nearest state for rec sales). However I’m working for the VA and they’ve made it clear they can piss test at any time. Gotta keep my job for another 7 years.

Start with a sleep study. My Sleep Apnea was missed until I started having panic attacks. Avoid meds, more negative IMHO, life style changes such as Exercise and no screen time 3omin before bedtime helps when I struggle also.

Weed gummies if you can, don’t look at your phone. read or anything but your phone or tv. Try box breathing…
