I hope the people who want Frank Wilson to get the full time job aren't serious...

In 2016, we fired Les in September. Ed coached 8 games and took over after going 6-2.
While it wasn't good experience, at the very least, Ed HAD been an SEC head coach at Ole Miss.
Frank Wilson is a great recruiter and Louisiana legend, but this isn't even close to the same thing. He's been an assistant for his entire career outside of two stops, those being UTSA where he went 19-29, and McNeese where he went 7-11. He left McNeese to come back to LSU and be the running backs coach. Some guys aren't cut out for being a head coach, and it seems Frank is one. I don't even think he'd take the job.
He's a great leader and someone who needs to stay on staff, but when your program needs to identify a long term hire who can get you back where you want to be, you don't hire someone who's 26-40 who willingly left his last head coaching job to come be a running backs coach. He's not winning out (I still expect a good fight against the Tide) but even if he did, I don't see this being another 2016 situation.

I don’t think Frank has the ego to be HC like Ed

I wouldn’t want to subject Frank to our a-hole fanbase as a HC.

I wish I had an uncle like Frank Wilson.

Just ignore these morons

I think he's happy to be the interim, but he even said today he's just here to be the "caretaker."

You think this is bad just wait til we beat Bama.
The collective reactionary spirit of Louisiana will simultaneously erupt into a chant of “hire Frank, fire Woodward, remove the term limit for Jeff.”
ETA: I don’t think Frank wants to be head coach & I think the next one retains him.

Ed Orgeron had the worst winning percentage in Ole Miss football history, and the LSU fanbase still wanted him. It’s hilarious that it actually happened.

Greatest season and team in college football history. And your dumb fricking clown arse thinks it wasn't a good experience? I'll hire a new coach every 4 years if I have a guaranteed NC ring.
BTW, you realize Ed had a higher winning % than Saban did at LSU, right?

I was clearly talking about his Ole Miss experience at the time of the hire...

give him some kind of asst hc if that is necessary, but not the real HC. I want Frank on the staff, but somehow he has to have better feeling for sending in RB's. He has failed at that job lately. Once carry on the first play of the 2nd half only for Holly. That was insane.

Well you wouldn’t have liked Bill Arnsparger who only won 1or2 games as an NFL HC. Ed O had a bad record b 4 LSU and we know when he had his act together in his 1st 3 years brought LSU its best season ever.Circumstances sometime dictate success and failure.

I think the candidates should be Frank, Gruden, Mullen or that Urban Meyer fella. I reckon I'll go post this on facebook tomorrow.

Wilson about to be the AD

The truth is, we could do a lot worse and pay a lot more.
We should definitely be paying attention in finishing the season. It’s not actually over.

TigerNation just wants a winning coach and team. Now that we've seen this absurd "throw money at a coach that'll automaticially produce a CFP berth" lunacy, maybe we'll begin to take a look at a coach who actually loves LSU.
Brian Kelly lost this team and lost TigerNation. IMO Frank Wilson has been around LSU football long enough - he knows what it takes to field a winning team.
I like Frank Wilson. He bleeds purple and gold.

I also think that hiring the interim for a year or two with a performance incentivized contract is a viable play in a year where there aren't a lot of good coaching prospects and you miss on the few options you have.
This year, it looks like there are a lot of good coaching prospects, though.

Sure, but that doesn’t mean he can actually do it.
