Under what authority is she trying to force him to brief her? Separation of powers is a pretty big hurdle for something like this to make it over.

She has absolutely no authority to do this. If I were Bovino's boss I'd simply tell him to ignore the order and hope she has him arrested on a fictitious "contempt of court" charge.

Just ignore it. They don’t have the authority to request that. CBP reports to DHS, who reports to POTUS. Not some judge.

I saw that article and my first thought was where does her power emanate from? If they tear gas someone - sue and recover

Agreed. I've made it a hobby to look up judges with odd rulings- they aren't always foreign born but oftentimes they are. I have no desire to be ruled by immigrants.
