LSU can’t wait on Kiffin being the Ole Piss will likely be in the playoff and has a chance to win a game or two. So now you are waiting until late December at best and all the other schools with openings will have them filled and if Kiffin doesn’t agree prior to the season ends we would be screwed with scraps. I think unless Kiffin agrees and signs in say late November at worst they will have to get someone else

And what happens if Lane strings us along because he knows we will pass on good hires, and the whole time he never intended to leave, he just wanted to leave a rival in a bad spot. Lane is kind of petty. If he isn't willing to leave in December with enough time to get things set up for the transfer portal, move on.

We’re going to wait on any coach who’s actively coaching. No one is going to “quit” midseason to take the job regardless of who it is. Do you really think someone can come just takeover and install their vision and ready to play in a week or two?

Remaining schedule for ole
Miss is cupcake. They will be making a deep run and it won’t make sense to wait that long

I think LSU is in a good position to be able to wait for a coach in the playoffs. This is why you have Frank as interim. You know Frank is 100% for LSU and will be the best coach to keep LSU’s recruiting class and team in tact. We also have Austin Thomas that will play a big part as well.

No, that's this board's #1 choice. What if LSU has never been Kiffin's #1 or #2 choice?

If I'm a big name coach, I would take pause given how LSU has treated coaches going back to the Miles debacle before he got fired in 2016 when the rumor mill triggered a Jimbo event in 2015. In state talent ain't all that these days, not with the portal and NIL. A 100,000 seat stadium that routinely empties after half time when you are winning isn't that much of a draw.

Kiffin has a lot of freedom at Ole Miss. Saban has a lot of freedom now as well. Why come to BR ? 10 years ago you have an argument about ceilings etc, now ....not so much.

It benefits Lane to string LSU along as long as possible. Similar to how Herman leveraged us for the UT job when he never intended to come to LSU

Waiting or not waiting on a coach has nothing to do with which coach you end up with.

It has EVERYTHING to do with getting players out of the transfer portal.

Btween players leaving and other teams players going elsewhere, if you wait too long, you'll be screwed (at least for the following year). 77.
