I have read several articles dated today from national sources who are OBJECTIVE and no mention of a reduced amount owed to Kelly. Personally I believe it WILL happen but not for some gossip "morals clause violation". If it occurs, I believe it would be a 1) lump sum payout and 2) no ban on taking another football related job. Kelly is already linked to multiple potential jobs including N Carolina.

Also, Hurley talked about how well Kelly treated him to go along with one of Lacy's parents (the mother) disputing the father's allegations. Bottom line is so far I have only seen players who I consider LOSERS like Langlois and Dwight "I don't have to go to team meetings" McGlothern Jr dumping on Kelly. Always, people should look at how objective these statements are...for or against Kelly. IMO, the negative ones I've seen the players have axes to grind. I know my opinion is maybe not even the majority one but I consider the character of WHINERS like Langlois and McGlothern.

Depends how bad he wants the lump sum. LSU has a good bit of leverage in negotiating a lump sum though. LSU is probably totally fine merely paying the $800k a month moving forward. It will be Kelly that will want to maximize his earnings and wanting the lump sum and ability to earn more elsewhere and double dip

Probably won’t be finalized for a little while, I imagine there will be a lot of back and forth and a lot will depend on Kelly’s next opportunities

Lump sums are incredibly lucrative even though the payout is a fraction. I use as an example lottery winners. From the ones that I know about, most of those lottery winners took the lump sum option because they had no idea about the future. I believe it was Publishers Clearinghouse that went bankrupt and there is serious question if the "lifetime payees" are ever going to get their money....well, maybe if they died after their last check, they got all their money.

Who gives a shite? Someone worth $5-7 billion is paying it. That's anywhere from 0.5 - 1% of that billionaire's net worth. That's equivalent to someone worth $1 million dropping $5-10k.

It's almost nothing to him. And it isn't your money.

They’re gonna wait and see if he gets offered another job

i wouldn’t hire Kelly to win a championship but to fix up a shitshow maybe.

Yes, I have read/heard that $27 million along with $20 million. But once again, the internet, talk shows hosts, and/or local reporters are pretty low down on my credibility list. I have read several national media articles dated today and yesterday that still have the $53/$54 million number. The good thing is huge real news like this (final agreed payout) will see the light of day. And there will be a "stated reason" as to why...whether that will be true is more questionable.

So you consider Malik Nabers and Charles Turner bums as well? They openly couldn’t stand him.

He’s either going to take a partial payment or his behavior will become very public. If Doucet is saying he took half he probably did.

If the report is right, Kelly is taking a discount.

Excellent post and those are the situations I've read about...specifically North Carolina where multiple media columns have said you exact words...well they didn't use "shitshow".

I don’t know why but this made me laugh. You seem a little too invested in this, lol. I don’t think anyone really cares about your opinion or mine either. Kelly is gone thankfully for LSU. Sounds like he will have more time for golf, drinking, and chasing hot realtors.

I think we can all do math, but to say that $50 million is nothing to anyone is just straight stupid. That is a lot of money, regardless of what people say you’re worth.

I’d say the majority of people worth 1M wouldn’t considering giving 5-10k.

I haven't looked up Nabers yet but I saw what Turner said. Where is the takedown of Kelly. I don't see it. Here is the quote I read and was the only thing of note he said about Kelly.

"Former LSU center Charles Turner suggested the culture problem wasn’t just about the rules, but the way Kelly handles his business with the players in the locker room. Kelly doesn’t communicate much with his players during the week."

SSSSOOOO WWWWWHHHHATTTT!! You think that Nick Saban was Mr Congeniality. Kelly has always been known as aloof. So was Saban...so was Urban Meyer. Turner also mentioned he didn't talk X's and O's with him. Of course that is NOT the head coach's job. That is the OL coach job to do that.

Agree 100%. The reason I post counter arguments is way too much has been made by cherry picking players who might have an axe to grind (McGlothern) or personalities clashed (Turner). Langlois injury ended his so-called football career. If you want a better example of how players can turn on LSU or coach, how about Brooks the secondary guy. He got the brain tumor that ended his career and all of a sudden it was almost like LSU tried to let him die.. So your statement about opinions is 100% correct. But when people post negative opinions about someone like Kelly, it should be balanced by positive opinions like Hurley, Lacy's mother, etc. Otherwise it is obviously unbalanced.

Apparently the MANY threads about this topic before I made this one. Every time I checked the forum there was a new thread about a FEW players supposedly panning Kelly. Just found the Nabers article and I don't see where he dumped on Kelly either. He had a gif about someone kicking rocks which BTW, he later took down. The author ASSUMED it was a negative take on Kelly. Xavier Atkins another LSU player who was encouraged to go to the transfer portal. I see a pattern myself. Disgruntled players like Langlous, Atkins, McGlothern, etc apparently despised Kelly. Turner simply didn't think he was a "players coach". I have yet to see any proof he disrespected or mistreated players.
