Does anybody else remember how Moffett's production fell off his last few years here?

I'm not so sure Kelly's replacing him was the egregious mistake it's being made out to be. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, far from it, but sometimes people get in a rut and a change of scenery give them a new lease on life. If he had stayed here I'm not so sure we would have seen a bunch of maulers out there Saturday night.

LSU was soft Moffett's last few years and most people wanted him gone.

I think almost every one remembers that. There's some revisionism going on with a small group of posters.

S&C is a copycat league
Most schools are doing similar types of weight training, speed training, etc.
Where were all the Moffett supporters when Bama ran roughshod over LSU for 10 plus years under Saban

It’s possible that maybe it’s more on the HC’s culture & how a team practices than it is on S&C.
It’s not like Moffitt’s program at A&M is way ahead of Flint’s at LSU. It’s just that Elko is better than BK

moffit's program got stale after 20+ years

I specifically remember after Moffitt’s 3rd Natty that Coach O had completely derailed the program

All you frickers need to learn how to spell his name properly, it's Moffitt.

There's a thread on this on the coaching changes board.

He needed to be replaced. He had gotten visibly less effective here. A new position at TAMU likely invigorated and motivated him. He can be successful elsewhere and still have needed to be replaced here.

Some? There’s a ton of it. They’ve completely forgotten Miles’ last several years, Orgeon’s last two and how dreadful our QB play was for years. It’s like because Kelly is a dick everyone wants gone that they can just rewrite history for everything else to bolster that idea

Definitely remember. He needed a change .

At this point I hate BK but I don’t think firing Moffett was that bad of an idea. Apparently even he understood why he was let go.

Also. Wasn’t he sick for a short time as well?
Bottom line is that if the HC isn’t an enforcer, the S&C will suffer.
The end of O’s tenure and BKs tenure are all you need to see.

It was obvious A&M -LSU game in TS was Moffitts superbowl with having BKs head on dummies.
I think after Mizzou runs all over A&M (like we should have kept doing) this Moffitt talk will stop.

some of you are stupid as shite and have no clue. Im sure it had nothing to do with the lack of discipline under O after 2019. Im sure it had nothing to do with O suddenly not backing up TM on things and letting TM hold people accountable
thats why the last 2 years he has shoved it up our arse in the 2nd half and is not 9-2 in that rivalry on both sides
and i have been critical as hell of some of the things he did. I hate, absolute hate conditioning test, i hate Olympic lifting for field athletes, but guess what...he has 3 NCs and has kicked our arse physicality wise 2 years in a row.
say what you want, but TM didnt suddenly become the problem. He was promised he would stay on then BK fired him in the rain. Im ok with letting him go because might have needed a new voice, but at least sit and interview TM and dont be a dick and fire him like he did.

Moffett
Who the hell is that?
Tommy Moffitt was the S&C coach here before Kelly and yes, people were screaming that he needed to go long before Kelly. They were screaming for him to be removed in the Miles era when Bama was pushing our shite in every year.
There's a lot of revisionist history going around and I understand the former players liked their former S&C coach, but as an outsider watching the product on the field, it was time for him to go. Flint was not the right guy though. As I've said in other threads, LSU doesn't seem to run out of gas, but they don't have the nasty, tough mental conditioning that you saw from players under Moffitt and Cochran at Bama/UGA.

I have no respect for the former players (Flynn and Hester) that are simping for him now but didn't call him out towards the end of his tenure. It was embarrassing; something like 1.13 yards per carry in the red zone.

We were getting beat along the lines for several years. Was it him or the players we recruited. But no doubt physically we’re getting beat. I believe I remember it was moffett that talked about getting smaller and quicker but retaining strength. Didn’t like that idea.

Pretty sure he won a national title at Tennessee too before he ever came here
