Bill Gates — Climate change will not lead to demise of humanity, it’s time to end the doomsday predictions.

quote:
There’s a doomsday view of climate change that goes like this: In a few decades, cataclysmic climate change will decimate civilization. The evidence is all around us—just look at all the heat waves and storms caused by rising global temperatures. Nothing matters more than limiting the rise in temperature. Fortunately for all of us, this view is wrong. Although climate change will have serious consequences—particularly for people in the poorest countries—it will not lead to humanity’s demise. People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future. Emissions projections have gone down, and with the right policies and investments, innovation will allow us to drive emissions down much further. Unfortunately, the doomsday outlook is causing much of the climate community to focus too much on near-term emissions goals, and it’s diverting resources from the most effective things we should be doing to improve life in a warming world. It’s not too late to adopt a different view and adjust our strategies for dealing with climate change. Next month’s global climate summit in Brazil, known as COP30, is an excellent place to begin, especially because the summit’s Brazilian leadership is putting climate adaptation and human development high on the agenda.

Is he still flying around in a jet?
Are the devices that made him rich still being manufactured with petroleum products?
Where does he stand on the electricity and water sucking data centers?

Correct. I used the term just yesterday to describe this wet, cool, low pressure annual fall climate change we're experiencing in middle Tennessee. I was much liking the previous season's climate, until this rude climate change.
Weather board.

Anyone with a damn brain knows that the climate is always changing. Entire civilizations have crashed due to climate change. The thing is, we can't do a damn thing to stop it. Humans are insignificant on the grand scale of things on this rock. Anyone who is actually willing to give the government money to fight something like climate change is too fricking stupid to be a productive member of our society. They hold the rest of us back by voting for retarded things.

We can definitely impact the climate and nature
The issue here is that it's probably smarter to not be in denial of that and engineer solutions in anticipations of the changes instead of trying to stop the changes from occurring in the first place.

Wrong.

I think Bill realizes people in growing numbers are tuning out the alarmism.
So he’s diverting attention to the big climate meeting in Brazil, where again instead of meeting via zoom hundreds of private planes will fly in, and thousands of delegates will dine on caviar and steaks.
I’d be paying close attention to this meeting, as to how they next intend to fleece mankind.

Expect all of tech to jump off the climate change bandwagon as AI server farms demand more and more energy. The two are incompatible.

We should trust him, he’s a climate scientist

I wish a category 8 hurricane would hit this place and turn it into ground zero. I realize there is no such thing as a category 8 hurricane, but a guy can dream. The irony would be glorious.

Wrong.
You don't think that we can impact the climate at all?

Yep. He just moonlights as an epidemiologist.

Trump is using the Epstein files to keep this dude in line. It’s one of the reasons he hasn’t released them.
