Hire Saban as a consultant

For everyone who wants Saban back as a coach, that's not realistic. You'd get 2-3 years max IF you could pull him back, which we can't, and it would take him that long just to establish his program. Why not hire him as a consultant to find the young guy coaching now that most embodies the characteristics that made Saban great?

Just because you’re retarded doesn’t mean you have to make a thread and tell the world. You can keep it to yourself

What's retarded are all the fools on here constantly screaming to hire a 72 year old man as the head coach because they can't understand how everyone doesn't love LSU as much as they do.

So hire him as a consultant?

Correction, have him quit his current consultant role at Bama (since any LSU role would be contractually prohibited due to conflict of interest) where he coached for 17 years and made his legacy, to temporarily plug into a mess at a program where he coached for 5 years

It appears you think Saban loves LSU more than the people you’re shitting on. Absurd

I wouldn’t mind if the AD called him up and bounced some candidates names off him and see what he has to say. I would.

I would love him to head up the coaching search. I don’t think we have anyone at LSU that I think could evaluate a coach. I think we all agree we don’t want Woodward making the hire.

Doesn’t necessarily have to be Saban but we need someone who has a decent track record of picking good coaches

Oh, yea. Just ask. He'll come running. Sure. Saban is awaiting the call.
NOT!

Anyone remember the story about Saban recommending we hire Houston Nutt when he left in 2004?

Head coaching talent evaluation isn’t his strong suit.

Saban wanted us to hire Houston Nutt when he left for Miami, so no. Let’s just get an up & comer coach and hope it works out. Just stay away from those zillion dollar buyouts in case it doesn’t work out.

I'm not sure if Saban wants to "consult". He seems like an all in or nothing guy.

Also, Saban doesn’t want to coach in the new world of college football. He was the best under the old system, but would probably be average now, plus he’s old and enjoying retirement.

I seem to recall, too, that he recommended Bobby Williams to replace himself at Michigan State. Another winner.
