It seems very irresponsible to write a coach off based solely on the fact that he currently coaches at Tulane, a school that LSU has not competed with in any literal sense of the word in several years.

Tulane is not an LSU rival. It's not the 1960s paw paw.

It’s 2025 and college players are being paid millions of dollars a year. To not hire a Tulane coach if he’s your top guy would be completely fricking retarded.

The timing of the Kelly firing leads me to believe that we are desperate to get young blood in here.

If Lane Kiffin were our #1 target I don't think we'd have fired Kelly so soon. We'd have held onto him until Ole Miss' season ended and then fired him and courted Lane quickly.

If you disagree with this logic, I'm open to hearing why. But I think the timeline indicates that we have someone young and hungry and relatively under the radar in mind.

If LSU either wants to try going the route of hiring a young, more unproven coach, for cheaper and attempt to strike gold, then he's probably a good option.

He's probably not option 1 if you can catch one of the bigger fish though.

Recently hired a Notre Dame coach. Might have even been turned down by the current day coach.Nothing’s off the table.

Sumrall is a great coach. Amzing what he did at Troy. They fired their coach the season before he started at Troy for going 5-7 and then he went 12-2. Immediately after he left Troy went 4-8.

What he has done this year at Tulane is impressive after losing his QB to NIL.

Saban was a 34-24 record coach from Mich St when we hired him

Les was 28-21 at his only coaching stop at Ok St

We all know how O did at Ole Miss.

I get Tulane is a G5 school, but G5 schools in the modern era are a lot different. It's not that big of a jump and based on record, Nick, Les and O were certainly not sure things.

I'm not saying Sumrall is the guy, but being at Tulane isn't a disqualifier.

Yall hired a Southern Miss coach before

Sumrall’s next stop is a big time job. It is a normal progression

I would agree. I think having a job open from October to January potentially would look pretty bad to the board.

Hold up......I was told on this board that Tulane would do everything in their power to keep Sumrall from going to LSU......

....apparently any other job Tulane would help him pack....but LSU.....nope!

Whether you believe them or not, Hannigriff and Moscona have said there was no desire to pay BK's buyout this season until late on Saturday night.

Even Bruce Feldman's article said that Woodward and BK discussed staff changes Sunday, but those talks became heated, and things went downhill from there, suggesting that BK could have saved himself.

This all went down too quickly to have a name already lined up IMO. Hell, we had the lead at halftime this weekend. If we upset A&M, a path to the CFP potentially opens up again with Bama and OU on the horizon.

Sure. There is no longer any appreciable LSU Tulane rivalry. Most LSU fans vaguely pull for Tulane and dislike USL in state far more.
