Does it work & is it a flat screen?
If so, drop it at Goodwill

Hold on to it until NO has a waste recycling day. There's a website that lists when these days are done across the state.
Just got rid of 2 old TVs at the baton rouge waste day drop off.

Bought my son a 75" for his new apartment on BF sale. Well fast forward to February and we open the box. Screen cracked. Nothing noticeable on the box. Went back to Best Buy and they offered no kind of help. I asked them could they dispose of it for me. Nope. I briefly contemplated leaving it in their parking lot lol. I rode around with it in the bed of my truck for a couple weeks trying to figure out what to do with it. Finally on garbage day I put it out and leaned it up against the bin with $20 taped to it. It disappeared LOL.

Just sit it at the curb. Someone will get it.

Put it in front of your house, put a for sale sign on it. Wait till it’s dark. Someone will steal it. Problem solved!

This is the way. I've had old refrigerators, dishwashers, wall ovens, etc. put out to the curb and usually in less than 3-4 hours it's gone. Someone will drive by in a pickup and snag most any appliance you put to the curb in N.O.

I believe Best Buy recycles old electronics.

Put it outside with a "for sale" sign. It will be gone in minutes.

It was a $600 TV and not worth the fight. It was 3 months in between and had been moved from the store, into my truck, into garage, sat for a while, moved into moving truck and stacked between mattresses, moved into freight elevator, moved into apartment. SHite happens.

I would be screaming mad if I spent $600 for a tv that didn’t work…however, from what you are saying it sounds like it may have been broken after you took it from the store.

The local Best Buy told me that they charge like $30 for anything with a screen.
I usually give my old stuff to the housekeeper, college kid neighbor, or such. Had a 55” Sony that I was going to give away, but when I did factory reset it went into a death loop. Research said there was no fix. Drove to an apartment complex and tossed it in an open dumpster.
Those apartment complex dumpsters are also handy after a crawfish boil.
