Just pay more and eliminate buyout

Pay more annually and eliminate buyout provision. The buyout is a disincentive for coaches but paying more annually with bonus incentives could be the answer.
If we threw $15mm/ year at anyone, it would be attractive to anyone.
Just a thought

Shorter contracts are the key. Signing any coach to 10 years is dumb. You just never know when their schemes will go stale in today's hyper-evolving game.
LSU has made it clear that 4 years is the extent of their patience. I wouldn't go a day longer than 5 years on any contract for a new coach. Win the SEC or a natty, then here's you're raise and extension.

LSU doesn't even really need an AD. They should just read the rant because the rantards have the secret recipe.
Get a proven winner, sign them for no longer than 5 years, don't pay anywhere near market value, don't have a buy out. Coaches will just be kicking down the door to sign up for the gig. Its really a master plan, and I cant believe nobody thought of it.

With transfer portal rules in place, especially for coaching changes, there is no reason to need the standard "at least 4 years" on the contract.

Game that out.
Hire a promising HC and he has prompt success.
He is the hottest commodity in CFB.
And he is up for bid b/c his contract term is up. In the best case, you renegotiate at the highest bidders' price.
The term of the contract cuts both ways.

They just need to stop with the 10-year contracts. Do a 5-year contract and put in performance-based extensions if you win the SEC or more if you win a national title. Just give them the 11,12,13M, whatever a year base, and make it possible for them to make up to 14-15 if they win. With a 5-year deal, you're going to be into year 3-4 before you want to make a move on a coach anyway, so... buyout will be minimal. If they're winning, then the performance-based extensions will be automatic anyway. Basically, they earn more buyout by actually fricking winning.....

Or make it back end loaded for longevity. You can still get home on the same contract total, just structure it differently to absorb some of the current fiscal burdens.

Well we essentially paid more than $25 million per year for Brian Kelly.
You may have a point.
When I put it that way I want to vomit.
