Buyout.
LINK
He was extended 4 years to 2031 by AD Ross Bjork in 2021. Woodward was hired by LSU in April of 2019. Yes, he did hire him in Dec 2017 and Jimbo was initially sucssessful at A&M while Woodward was there. Yea, he swung and missed with Kelly and deserves criticism but Im seeing even on ESPN First Take by that panel of dumbasss that Woodward has the the two largest buyouts in history of sports and thats just factually incorrect.

Woodward just extended Ed O which was an even dumber move.

I mean who cares, the 100 mil to Kelly is retarded enough

That is factually correct. But how do ya not. I thought we got off easy with that situation. You could even argue now that he handled that contract perfectly.

That was not dumber, he won a Natty. No comparison.

And the talking points to save his butt continues.
He needs to go.
LSU needs a reset.

Who else was going to hire him?
What leverage did Ed have?

He was under contract.
Was he going to retire?
What school was going to poach him?
Was he going to screw around and not coach…..oh wait…..

Im good with moving on from Woodward, I think a 100 million dollar mistake is a firable offense personally. I never understood the move and he's definitely responsible but atleast argue the facts. The Orgeron contract doesn't look that bad under him now in comparison. I can't believe some feel and believe that was a AD mistake and somehow avoidable.

Fisher’s original TAMU contract was 10 years at 75M guaranteed.
He was 4 years in on it. The remaining 45 was on him.
54+45 =99M in just those 2. That fat bastard cost those schools north of 150 if you added up other coaches.

Scott…pull back from the Mr. Gatti’s buffet for a minute and realize your time is done.

He did sign him to the initial 10 year $75M deal though, Had TAMU not given Jimbo an extension, the buyout would have still been $30M in 2023. which would have been the largest buyout ever at that point. (they probably would have fired him a year earlier if that contract was still in place and the buyout would be $38M)
He is partly responsible for the extension since they did it based on woodward trying to bring Jimbo to LSU.
Woodward has a hand in 3 of the top 10 largest coach buyouts in college football history. This guy acts like he is paying in monopoly money since he has had zero repercussions to this point for his terrible negotiating of football coach contracts.

Pretty common, he had to for recruiting sake at a minimum
I think he always knew he was going to be replacing Coach O sooner than later when he arrived -- that's kinda why they hired him and ran off Alleva lol
