Taylor Sheridan to Leave Paramount in 2028, Inks 5-year TV/Film Deal with NBCUniversal

This must be why Paramount is so desperate to acquire WB/Discovery. They only have Sheridan and Star Trek. Sure they poached the Duffer bros from Netflix but they only deliver 1-2 seasons per decade. I’m hoping this will lead to more excellent movies like Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River. The Yellowstoners have squandered his talent for far too long.

The massive five-year overall deal for film, TV and streaming, will begin Jan. 1, 2029 after Sheridan’s overall TV deal with Paramount ends. (It goes through 2028.) Also moving to NBCUniversal is Sheridan’s close collaborator and producing partner David Glasser and his 101 Studios. Glasser has signed a first-look film and TV deal with the new studio that will begin in early 2026, after his company fulfills its current obligations to Paramount.

Sheridan’s departure, first reported by Puck, is also surprising as the new Paramount regime made it clear on Day 1 that he was the top creator on their roster and someone they were looking to keep in the fold for a long time; Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison called him “a singular genius with a perfect track record.”

I had read where Paramount was wanting to cut TS's production budget and I'm guessing NBC will get him more freedom to do his thing. Yellowstone is the one show that is still on the Peacock App so they already have some business.

I’m probably not subscribing to Peacock.
Already have The Office complete series on blu.

So will we ever find out what happened with the dinosaur bones?!?!!?

So there goes Landman, Tulsa King, and any Yellowstone spin-offs?
I'm not sure TS can shoe-horn his Harlequin romance, western based premises into any more occupations. We already have law firms, cop shows, firefighters, hospital dramas, mafia all over the networks
That leaves TS with beverage distributors, college boosters, grocery chains, and fast food employees to blow up buildings, organize ambushes out on Main St, and hire hookers to man the offices and registers

As someone who was a teenager when Ali Larter walked out in that whipped cream bikini, Sheridan has built up an enormous amount of good will in me for finally delivering the payoff.

The movie deal starts in 2026 and will run for eight years, while the television deal starts at the end of 2028; the overall deal guarantees Sheridan over $1 billion, according to two individuals with knowledge of the deal.

Does the new contract have a rider that he actually finishes story arcs or he forfeits cash?

I hope so. He should contractually have to finish them somewhat decently as well...in order to get paid.

I can’t speak for Taylor Sheridan the showrunner. I’m a big fan of Taylor Sheridan the film writer and I’m glad NBC is getting some movies out of him starting as early as next year.

How will this affect the upcoming Yellowstone Babies cartoon on Nick Jr.?
