Kiffin, Key, Sumrall, that’s your list.

That’s it, look no further than these 3. Pros and cons to all of them.
Kiffin is an offensive wizard. LSU almost assuredly would have an elite offense year in, and year out. Kiffin is still young enough to coach at LSU for 15-20 years if everything goes as planned. Kiffin is a media darling, and would make for entertaining press conferences, and interviews. He’s been around the game a long time now, and has Ole Miss better than they have been in 60 years. Thinking about Kiffin with Louisiana athletes and LSU talent, you’re almost foaming at the mouth thinking about LSU dropping 50 burgers on people. Kiffin just has to hire good DC’s when the time comes, and let good recruiters, recruit. Kiffin has also struggled with big games every now and again.
Brent Key at Georgia Tech has been nothing short of remarkable. You have to give this dude a ton of credit, and respect. Key is a young fiery coach, that I know would get the players up for games. Seems like he’s somewhat of a rah rah guy, that would have the players ready to run through a brick wall for him, and for LSU. If you want LSU to get back to that dawg mentality, and shove peoples shite in, Key is the man for the job. Things to consider, Key runs the ball a little much for my liking, and probably many others here. Haynes King has turned into a big time college QB (he should he’s been in school for 5-6 years) so are some of Key’s accomplishments based mainly on having a 25 year old QB, and running through a weak ACC conference?
I’m really starting to warm up to the Sumrall idea. Sumrall is a real young coach with a lot of passion. LSU could use both of these. Sumrall has only been a HC for 4 seasons, but he is 38-10 overall as a HC, across 2 different programs. 12-2 at Troy, 11-2 at Troy, 9-5 at Tulane, 6-1 at Tulane. Sumrall lost a freshman phenom QB at Tulane in Darian Mensah to Duke because they paid him 4 million, and Sumrall has kept on chugging along, having Tulane rolling again, only 1 loss to Ole Miss. Sumrall has had Frickin Troy and Tulane both ranked in his tenure so far. Now you could say Fritz built up Tulane, and he did, but Sumrall has kept the ball rolling, and losing Mensah was a big hit, that he has maneuvered around quite well. You could also get Sumrall for a hell of a whole lot cheaper than both Kiffin, and Key. Cons here are that, you never know how these Group of 5 guys are going to work out. We all know how guys like Tom Herman, and Billy Napier turned out. I trust Sumrall more than both of them though.
All 3 of these guys have major pros about them. All are very young, Lane is respectfully still young for a HC in college, all will bring passion, all will bring some flare with them, all will breathe life back into the LSU program. So the question is, which one fits best, and which one will succeed at the highest level? Kiffin and Key I’m assuming will take a King’s Ransom to bring on, while we could poach Sumrall for a much cheaper price tag.

I wouldn’t mind Sumrall.

The trolling kiffin would do here would be nothing short of glorious.
We’ve spent the last 4 years getting trolled by all of the CFB world, would be a nice switch up.

I could see Kiffin jerking us around only to leave us high and dry at the last minute.

First off, nice write up.
I’m still on the fence on Kiffin. His history is a program destroyer TO positioning OM to new heights. Woody will make a splash hire I believe but hopefully not a repeat of the BK contract.
Big fan of Key for what he’s done this season. Same for Sumrall but not sure either would truly be considered. Hope they will be though.

Who can say they’re more confident in those 3 names than when BK was hired. No risk no reward though

Nothing is a sure thing anymore, just have to weigh all the options out and go with gut instinct end of the day. I do truly think at least 2 of those 3 would succeed at a very high level at LSU. Which ones? We won’t know until we make it that far.

Stop the 10 year contracts.

This one will probably be 6 max, if it's that long. If that's not good enough, LSU likely moves on. They aren't handing out 10 year contracts anymore. 4 years ago was practically light years in terms of college football. I actually think that if NIL and Rev share were in play then, that contract doesn't happen, at all.

You're missing some.
Dillingham, Lanning(who would not be my choice, but he still needs to be on the list) Beamer (my personal favorite, although I don't know if he gets a real shot) Lea, Lebby (same as Beamer) Lashlee (I don't think you can outbid SMU.) I think that's all.

Yes, he's at South Carolina and if they could have not thrown away the Bama and/or LSU games last year, they would have made the playoff.
Had Bama on the ropes this year and last year.
At South Carolina.
The same school that chewed up and spit out both Holthz and Spurrier.
He's about as successful at SC as Saban was at Mighigan State. Not saying he's Saban, or that he'll even be considered, but if I were doing the search, he'd be on the list.
ETA: also with this hire, having been in the SEC before is going to be a huge sticking point.

Kelvin Shepard would be an interesting look. He’s been great as DC for the Detroit Lions and is considered a players coach and was a great player for LSU.
