Before the LSU game yesterday I was talking about Kiffin with my brother in law.

If you follow his career you can see he is improving at being a head coach each year. You can see him “maturing” as a coach in his game day decisions and how he game plans.

Kiffin may never be Saban or whoever but pretty soon the tournament will be 16 teams. I have full faith Kiffin can get LSU into the dance far more often than he wouldn’t.

If nothing else it would be fun football to watch.

Did you see the stupid decision he made to go for it on 4th and 2 from somewhere near his own twenty yard line in the Oklahoma game?

Kiffin spending those few years in Bama at Saban’s Coaching Rebab Clinic did a hell of a lot of good for him.

He got sober about 2 years ago. He reconciled with his ex wife and seems happy in Oxford.

Yeah, what I am saying is he seems to be a guy who is still relatively young and hungry and also proven enough as a head coach of a SEC program to get us into the dance.

The cherry on top is that he continues to get better and hasn’t peaked yet.

That versus a total roll of the dice on literally any other realistic candidate out there. I’ll take Kiffin every day over OCs/DCs of P4 teams or risking a hot G4 head coach becoming our sunbelt Billy.

Last time we hired a guy who already peaked and the game had already passed him. The is the perfect time to hire Kiffin coming into his best years.

Not sure I saw that specific play but who won the road game against a ranked opponent?

Anyone else feel like the goal might be Kiffin? And they wanted to beat Florida to the punch?

It was God awful and wouldve had me lose my shite as an Ole Miss fan.

The point is, those type things used to happen 2-3 times a game with him, especially in bigger games when it seemed he was trying to prove something. The "get your popcorn" thing before a game with Bama comes to mind.

My biggest issue with him has always been defense was an after thought. I am shocked to admit he has totally done a 180 on that, granted, by having the cash to throw at guys in the portal. But how is that much different than the recruiting advantage in a place like LSU with 10-12 studs a year coming thru being the only legit D-1 program in a fertile state along with the name recognition and cred of 3 titles helping in national recruiting?

Going into 2024, I cringed at the thought of Kiffin. In those two years, he managed to blow a very winnable game against us (see dumbass decisions above) yet still finish with a better record, in playoff contention late in the season, and put Ole Miss on the national stage as a legit high profile program.

I don't think he is the end all, but in a weak field, and improving year to year as he matures, he seems to be the easy favorite.

He won the game yesterday more so because OK sucked not because of great coaching.

Despite that he is my first choice. I just wouldn't point to yesterday's game as why we should hire him.

Dollar for dollar he’s not the best hire, IMO. His defenses are regularly dogshit.

Would probably get us to several playoffs though over a 10 year stretch.

Agreed. And really, the only pro-Kiffin argument you can make from that call is at least he doesn't do that stupid shite as often as he used too.

Did you see that high school team in Alabama that went for it every 4th down?

wtf does this have to do with a coach's maturity over the years?

He does like to go for it on 4th down which drives me crazy. Kelly did the same thing numerous times. Nobody is going to perfect. Kiffin gave Ole Miss their first 11-win season in the history of their program! They finished ranked last year LSU didn’t. They will obviously finish higher this year too. That speaks volumes for me especially considering Ole Miss was a dumpster fire before he arrived.

I’ll take that over BK not going for it on 2nd & 20 and 3rd & 26 while down 7 in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter against Vandy.

2024 Ole Miss defense: 13th in the nation for yards allowed per game, second in the nation for points allowed per game, third in the nation for sacks. But, I agree that LSU should not hire Kiffin.

I think the LSU job is the top choice for somebody looking to make a move. The biggest downside would be uncertainty about the administration. If it were to become known that major boosters want Woodward out with only an interim president in place, candidates won't know who they would be working for. In fact, a new president might decide to replace the AD anyway. I don't have a good feel for how significant that will be.

Good luck with the search.
