Michael B. Jordan is in early negotiations to star in the new Miami Vice movie being developed by Universal and F1 filmmaker Joseph Kosinski.
If a deal makes, Jordan will play Ricardo Tubbs, one half of the famous cop duo known as Crockett & Tubbs. James Crockett has yet to be cast.
The new feature will explore the glamour and corruption of mid-’80s Miami in a new version of the property, inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series that influenced culture and set the style of everything from fashion to filmmaking.

Michael Mann version was awesome.

Seasons 1 & 2 and the 2006 film are Michael Mann’s Miami Vice.
Seasons 3-5 are Dick Wolff’s Miami Vice
With that being said while very different from the series, the 2006 movie feels like a super stylistic representation of 2000s culture the same way the series was a stylistic version of 80s culture. Dark, gritty and a shite load of bling.

Glenn Powell is way too light and silly to play Crockett. Austin Butler would be perfect but at least need someone like a Chris Pine or the like. Crockett is already jaded and a Vietnam war vet at the beginning of Miami Vice.

They are putting him in all the reboot/sequels of 80s/90s shite

Philip Michael Thomas was fantastic as Ricardo Tubbs. I don't mind Michael B. Jordan in this role. Glenn Powell as Crockett I'm not quite sold on. We'll see.

Chris Pine would have been a better choice.

Definitely but he's an elite actor. With the MB Jordan casting, & Glen Powell mention, it doesnt look like they're going for elite actors.

I would go with Ryan Gosling for Crockett.

I'd nominate Tom Hardy but regret it after he got through with the dialogue

Yea, I think he would do well too

Another remake...yawn
Yeah, but Miami Vice can be remade very 10-15 yrs and I'll watch it every time. The only caveat is that Mann must be involved or it will probably be schlocky shite.
