It could, but this situation has nothing to do with that.
Stamps is transferring because he's not playing. this would be happening if LSU was still undefeated.

Wasn't this expected after Kelly announced the redshirts of Stamps and Gilbert?
Its a players' world out there and Kelly allowed for his players to have another year of eligibility elsewhere.

No it won't. The only reason defensive players would leave is if there is not a path to the field.

Ashton Stamps hitting the portal has nothing to do with LSU's record, the fans, or anything. He was a starter last year that can't get on the field.

This is a good tactic for high school and transfer recruiting.

Right.
Deion Sanders was just celebrated for this type of thinking last week, nationally, with his transfer portal scrimmage, but I'm sure Brian Kelly will be dogged for it and it'll be presented as some sort of crisis with players jumping ship.

Seems odd that he would leave the team even considering he intends to transfer. Kelly already said that they were going to be redshirting him this season. Seems short sighted to forfeit all of the resources that being a scholarship player provides, just to get your name out there sooner.

I know nothing, but if I were him I would stick it out to the end of the season:
-stay in strength and conditioning program
- stay in nutrition program
- keep getting reps in practice
Now what? Is he still on scholarship? If he announces he's entering the portal can he still access the facilities?

Stamps got replaced by a better player who should be an all American and first round pick. He left because he couldn’t beat out a better player for time.
