Shot out of a cannon- when someone says “good luck!”

Do you smack them with “I make my own luck.” Or “I’m gonna need it!”
Or just a polite “thanks! You too!”
I know context is important here but I struggle a lot with “good luck!”
Just doesn’t sit well with me.
