The main rebuttal I see when Kiffin gets brought up is “what has he won?” which somehow matters when it didn’t matter with our 3 championship coaches this century. Hell we hired the winningest CFB coach and look where it got us.

What’s omitted is the fact that he has built a winner out of a bottom tier SEC program and is having success this year even without a roster full of mercenaries. He is the sole reason a non D1 QB worked the most elite defense we’ve had in 10+ years while our OC has further handicapped an already struggling 5th year QB who he’s been “coaching” for 3 years now.

I get it, it’s a pride thing for the retarded percentage of our fan base that still think of Kiffin as the kid coach from UT/USC 15 years ago. Bottom line is if I’m in any way a decision maker at LSU you have to start swooning him now to take over after next year when it’s feasible to ditch the leprechaun.

4-16 vs top 10 teams. You want that at LSU?

If so, be prepared to offer a $100M, 10 year contracts for what is essentially a younger Kelly.

I was hoping we'd pry him away from Ole Miss when O got fired.

He makes some crazy gambles on offense at times, but Kiffin paired with a solid DC and talented players is a lethal combo.

He beat Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State in 1999. That had never been done before at Michigan State. Guess what it hasn’t been done again since he left.

He resurrected a MSU program that has to compete against Michigan.

He was also considered one of the top DC’s in the NFL. When he was DC at Cleveland, he had one one of the best defenses in NFL history at the time. He was a very known commodity in football circles.

Kiffin is hands-down the BEST offensive mind in CFB and would probably be top 5 in the NFL.

For everyone that is against him as LSU's HC, had we hired him instead of BK, we certainly wouldn't have done any worse. Kiffin is a better HC than BK.

BK benefited grossly from only having 1 or 2 big games all season. The games he typically lost were to opponents that had as much or more talent than he did. Honestly, where do you think most people rank BK in terms of coaching in the SEC? He's a horrible HC.

Lesticles actually built Okie State into a power program and I believe he beat Oklahoma a few times before he left to come to LSU.

I don’t know about that.

Michigan state has several conference titles since 1990 has a playoff birth and has a more recent national title than Ole Miss has a conference title

Anybody who knew anything about football knew Saban was the real deal. Maybe they didn't know he would be a generational coach but he was THE hot name ready to take over a major program. Kiffen is no longer the young hotshot. Hes at the midpoint of his career. He's had success, but also some notable failures.

Especially new era Ole Miss. They have money which is why LSU keeps poaching staff off Ole Miss. They set it up. They're not Ole Miss from 10 years ago, which is why I'm not fully sold on Kiffin. He hasn't done anything anywhere. Ole Miss, Tenn, USC. He has matured and he's absolutely better than BK. At minimum he gives you a team that will ALWAYS be good on offense. He and Petrino are some of the most consistently brilliant OC minds in NCAA.

Kiffin is especially good at the flow of the game too with his calls. His players feed off it. He just needs to figure it out on the defensive side so he needs a really good DC and someone who can evaluate talent on that side of the ball. Do that and he wins one. That said, this board has a really weird mentality they hang on to that Ole Miss has no resources and they're a doormat program. Not even realizing they might actually be setup better than LSU in new era NIL wise. It's funny really.

I don't consider Golding a very good DC. Their 3 losses were by a total of 13 points. Not bad for an Ole Miss team that hadn't sniffed that type of success in a long time.

saban?

MSU was on probation when he went there. he played second fiddle to UM.
he had the #1 D in the NFL with the browns previously.
He won 10 games at toledo

need anymore info?

miles? nothing that special. coached some pro ball. was 28-21 at okie lite but that is successful for that program at that time. I think jimmy johnson was the only other to win there back with miles prior to gundy.

O? i agree. O was technically NOT qualified and should not have been hired.

You can make an argument that Kiffin is the second best coach in SEC behind Kirby Smart. I can't honestly think of anyone I think is a surefire thing in NCAA right now. I'd be fine with Kiffin plus he's young and he can continue to grow.

The better question here is does he want the LSU job? Does he want the Florida job? Does he stay at Ole Miss? That's the question. He has been on the tongue for awhile with teams and still hasn't left Ole Miss. Does he put on LSU game film and just face palm at the wasted talent?

History says otherwise.

Michigan State:

.594 overall winning percentage
6 National Championships
30 bowl games
9 conference championships

Ole Miss:

.555 overall winning percentage
3 National Championships
43 bowl games
6 conference championships

This despite being The Big Blue's little brother.

UF has to compete with FSU, Miami and everyone else that raids that state. Here, all he would have to do is keep talent home and steal some recruits from Texas, Florida and a few other places.
