I feel like outside of only a few games, he has essentially been a non-factor. I know he's had injuries and yes, he came back this year. He is wearing the coveted numer 7. Not sure if he deserves it.
I feel that overall, given the hype, he has been a disappointment. Some of it is likely due to coaching or lack thereof, as Kelly and staff don't seem to know how to utilize him properly. I know that's not totally his fault.
Flame away if you must.

We should not overlook the fact that he has regressed under BK

He has looked great against sub par competition since his very first start
When it comes time to make big time plays against big time opponents, he disappears.
His grill is sweet, that’s about the only positive I have on his career thus far at LSU

It’s not just Perkins. Has anyone made any positive development under Kelly?

Tremendous athleticism, he is just not very smart.

Are we turning on every player now?

I think Vandy schemed for perk to have to make decisions. For some reason, we schemed defensively right into their hands with perk. Maybe it was because we were missing whit. I still wouldn’t have changed the approach. Im no d coordinator, but I assumed his star position would have him consistently making highlight plays. I would’ve used him as pavia’s spy. No more, no less. Perk needs to hunt and not be “fed”. The TD pass in him was the prime example. He was hung out to dry.

There was that kid, what was his name again? Think he played QB.

It honestly wouldn’t hurt my feelings to hear him shut it down for draft status. With Whit back I think the defense is just overall better.

Perk committed when LSU was poo, most thought he would flip.
Dude is a gifted "athlete" but he is lite for a LB thus he's a star. Whatever.
His strength at the position is running down a flushed QB.
He doesn't get off blocks heading into the line & gets pin balled on occasion doing so. He is not a thumper.
He is probably better suited as a RB at his size & speed. Think Alfred Blue.
Bottom line Perkins may have short comings but that's on how the staff is determining his role. My .02

Sorry, guess I should have said this year.

Lack of effort isn’t a coaching problem

Kyle Parker, but I think that is a function of just getting playing time.
Both Jardin and Woodland look better. Dline is much improved.
The improvements are generally on the position coaches, though. Putting those coaches in the right position is on the head coach.

This.
Perkins is too small to be a pass rushing DE. He’s not strong/physical enough to be a LB. He lacks coverage skills to be a SS.
But wherever he lines up, he consistently doesn’t play hard/hustle. If the play isn’t right in front of him, he shuts it down and lazily jogs toward the ball carrier, if he takes an angle and tries to pursue at all. He’s done this his entire time at LSU.
Posters have hyped up and made excuses for Perkins since he arrived at LSU. The biggest mistake coaches have made with Perkins is not where they played him but by playing him. It’s past time to admit that Perkins is a show horse, not a work horse. Bench him and play someone else who will at least give the effort required to be a reliable contributor to the defense.

I somewhat feel bad for the kid.
As much as I’ve liked having him here it would’ve done him better to go get coached by somebody who knows what they’re doing and how to utilize you.

He doesn't need to play every snap. We need to play more true Nickle and Dime packages. And utilize him on pass rush/spying opportunities on 3rd down.
First and Second down he can rotate in but not be out there every snap. I've watched him just be absolutely lost in too many games this season. It happened against South Carolina, Clemson, and Florida they just didn't take advantage of it. He has made an impact on several occasions but playing him every snap has allowed teams to manipulate and attack him because hes being asked to do things that he either can't do or doesn't know how to do. A lot of that is on Coaching.
He should be utilized in packages to spy or blitz in passing situations on 3rd down and 2-minute situations. We need to stop with playing him every snap its hurting him and the team.
