Wife and girls were there, everyone went running, possible shooting at Macy’s. Mall was closed down. Looking for news link.

I’m only saying this because I haven’t been back to Baton Rouge in a couple years, but I’m surprised that mall is still there.

ETA: I completely spaced when reading that. Sorry. Lakeside is still pretty packed. Used to get my haircut there once a month until Paris Parker closed.

Lakeside is in Metairie, and absolutely packed every time I go.

Edit: I know someone who works at Dillards. There was indeed a shooting at Macys. Mall is shut down.

My mom was there. She said it happened in the food court.

Prob some NBA youngboy fans buying clothes for the concert tonight.

I was just there with my kids but on the other (Dillards) side; didn't stay for very long
Nothing weird but did notice a bit more culture than usual inside

Upon leaving there were lots of people outside in the parking lots and garage and much more cars leaving than normal, it did seem a bit strange
Guess I just missed it

Not good not good at all

Or some Saints fan watching Rattler throw another pick and shooting out the TV so they wouldn’t have to watch the game.

Lakeside is one of the few nice malls left in the region.

I’m not saying this is fake news, but a few years ago social media went nuts with a news about a shooting there. Turns out it was a clothing rack that fell over and someone said it was a gun going off.
The old women on Facebook were swearing it was shots fired for two days even after store managers, customers, and the police all saying they nothing happened.

I always thought it was kind of trashy to go to the Mall on a Sunday anyway gunshots or no gunshots.

It’s ok. Someone got disrespected. Can’t blame them.

The shops and pedestrians have insurance.

I go to lakeside maybe once every 7-8 years. I went a few months ago because I had to pick something up at the Apple Store, and it didn’t feel like I was in the US.

Appears to be a prank that caused everyone to panic. Top rated comment from Reddit:

quote:

So…. My son-in-law that works in the mall spoke with the cops. There was a prank call and the cops came to just secure the area and asked people to leave the bathrooms at the food court. People panicked and ran. The sounds that was heard throughout the mall was the sound of everyone scraping their chairs at once in the food court. So, there was no shooting and the mall is safe.

A visit to Lakeside Mall is the best endorsement for online shopping.
