One underlying question about firing BK is who would hire him after LSU?

The buyout will be offset by his next contract (be it coaching or the media).

The gamble is if we hold onto him too long and tarnish his reputation, we run the risk of decreasing the value of that next contract. But firing him too quickly is insanely costly without a guarantee he gets that next job.

So that raises the question: what would be his next job?

Could he get a coaching or media job paying $6-7M? I think he could. That would SEVERELY offset the actual money paid out.

There are some sunk costs involved, too, like Brad Davis, Sloan, etc. Those guys are going to be terminated almost guaranteed, so those costs are already baked into the overall calculations. I have to imagine both will also get jobs that will offset the buyout costs, regardless.

Then comes the Baker question and if we'd push him on the new HC. This makes the Drink hire a positive b/c we know Drink is fine with Baker at DC

I don't think anyone wants him

He has failed with all the assets. Why would anyone want his old arse.

My biggest fear is he goes on tv and not fade away

Those TV contracts are no joke. Should be a couple million a year.

If you think he would ever work again as rich as he’d be after getting fired from LSU I’d like some of the crack you’re smoking please

He’s 63 and doesn’t need to work anymore. That’s part of his problem.

One way or another, this was likely always his last job.

He doesn’t look or talk like he cares much for the way CFB is run these days. If he wants out of the mitigation obligations to “retire” maybe you can work down the buyout.

I assume the FO buildout has been done to stay around and manage retention of the investment in the roster. So you shouldn’t have to turn too much of that over.

Most of the guys anyone would want to retain on this staff are loyal to LSU more than BK. Is there anyone you’d want to keep around that isn’t an O holdover other than Peoples, and he’s more tied to Baker.

One thing you have to do is get somebody with some players on board. One of the most underrated problems with BK hire is that he brought none of his players. It really exacerbated the roster issue.

I don’t care if Brent Key is a GT alumn. If you can get the OC and some players to ride along, that’s where I’m going. He’s been bleeding high end players to the SEC. I just don’t think the right offer wouldn’t move him regardless of his connection to the school.

Moot point. LSU was his retirement plan as soon as he signed the contract.

Why do you people post shite like this as if you know what you’re talking about? His contract is publicly available. Go read it.

And the three (now four) retards who upvoted your dumb post should read his contract too.
