Any chance Trump gets to pick a few more justices for the SCOTUS?

Thomas should be a lock to step down sooner rather than later.

Trump could get a nice pick to follow him. There is also Roberts and Alito, both ought to seriously consider retiring due to their age. All 3 are in their 70's.

It would be fitting for Roberts to retire as most Chief Justices typically by chance have served on average for 20 years.

But if Vance wins another term, Sotomayor and Kagan are on the clock.

He’ll probably get to replace Thomas. If we’re lucky, Sotomayor has been having health problems lately. I don’t see any of the other members of the court potentially dying or retiring any time soon.

Clarence Thomas is 3 years away from being the longest serving SCOTUS justice ever. He's going for it barring health problems.

Would be nice if we could get rid of one or both of the “wise Latinas” and/or the one who doesn't know what a woman is.

It would suck to lose Thomas.

“Wise Latina” is a diabetic. She won’t leave willingly, even if she is losing body parts.

The three dems are Kagan (Jewish woman, seemingly in good health. Should have at least 10 years left on the bench. She’s the most moderate, intelligent, and intellectually honest democrat on the court. Even when I disagree with her, her opinions are well-researched, well written, and worth reading), Sotomayor (Latina woman, likely has no more than 5 years left on the court), and Jackson (black woman, likely has 20-25 years ahead of her on the court.) Both Jackson and Sotomayor are pure partisan activists with zero intellectual honesty.

As for the moderates on the court: Kav should have 20 or so years left, Comey-Barret has likely 25+, and Roberts at least 10.

For the conservatives: Thomas is on his way out within 3-5 years, Alito has likely less than 10 years left, and Gorsuch is likely there for around 20 more.

There is also Roberts

He'll retire under a democrat president, no doubt.

Alito

Should retire now and let Trump replace with a younger version.

Thomas

I think he serves until about a year left of Trump's term then retires.

Thomas will likely retire before Trump's term is up. Sotomayor may not last that long, but she will try to hang on until the next election and hope a Democrat gets voted in. That is very unlikely.

I agree with this assessment.

Kagen is smart. She reminds me a bit of RBG where I might disagree with her but I usually can appreciate her dissents/decisions.

Hope not. He needs to announce his retirement before the '28 election kicks off.
