Top Democrats in Pennsylvania are maneuvering to run against Sen. John Fetterman in a 2028 primary contest, threatening to tear the party apart in the biggest battleground state in the nation.
Why it matters: Democrats haven't flipped a GOP Senate seat since Fetterman did it in 2022. He's still popular with Pennsylvania voters, even as Democrats turn on him over his softened approach to President Trump.
Potential Democratic challengers are already bashing Fetterman — and each other — years ahead of schedule.
Some Democratic officials are openly contemplating running against Fetterman or keeping the door open to a Senate bid in the event he retires.
The big picture: Democrats who could run against Fetterman include Reps. Brendan Boyle and Chris Deluzio and former Rep. Conor Lamb, according to multiple political insiders in Pennsylvania.
1. Boyle has been loudly critical of Fetterman on TV and social media, calling him "Trump's favorite Democrat" and accusing him of visiting the president at Mar-a-Lago to "kiss the ring."
2.Deluzio has been cultivating a national brand as a young populist leader from the Rust Belt.
3. Lamb has won the praise of progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for repeatedly attacking Fetterman, who beat Lamb in the 2022 Democratic primary.

Not really sure that I'd call it a "plot". Plot insinuates something underhanded and sinister. Elected officials get primaried all the time. It's currently happening to Cornyn because he's a POS RINO.

They’re mad he’s not far left. He’s in a purple state. What do they expect from him?
Good way to blow up that seat entirely and hand it to a Republican.

Democrats just can't handle anyone on their side talking with common sense anymore. They want complete and total far left members.

How are Fetterman's numbers within the state? It seems to me the only Dems who wouldn't want him are the rabid progressives as he seems to have fit well into the mold of the more classic liberal (the lack of which is what is hurting their brand on the national level).

So the sanest Democrat in the senate is going to be ousted because he won’t go full leftist and some on this board still think the left isn’t going to precipitate a full on split or war at some point in the near future?
It’s hard left or death for their leadership and I have no respect for anyone too cowardly to admit it at this point with Charlie Kirk dead, Schumer calling people into the streets and the likely next AG of Virginia calling to murder his political opponents entire families.

See, Fetterman is a reasonable person. Democrat party can’t have that. Bad for business.

Figures. Fetterman has more common sense than any of them, so they want him gone.

The issue is in the primaries often you have the most rabid people vote.
So all the loons on the far left will be voting.
And they will remember that he said Israel had the right to defend itself after the attack.
Democrats hate that.
He said trump isn't Hitler.
Democrats hate that.
He said calling people fascists and nazis is bad.
Democrats love calling people fascists and nazis.
He is weak now because he is the most sane person in the asylum that is the Democrat party.

It’s almost like Fetterman is ready to be a Republican and Greene is ready to switch to Democrat.

It would be chef's kiss if he ran as a R and won.
