I’m a father of a child with Downs. She is a vibrant, amazing young lady who attends college. Coming across this CBS article from 2017 fricked with me pretty hard, especially watching the story.

LINK

I was in Europe not two weeks ago and it surprised me how few people with Downs we came across. The article speaks to the fact that over 90% of all pregnancies in Europe diagnosed with Downs in prenatal screening are aborted.

Critics argue this is akin to eugenics. Advocates argue it is sympathetic and prevents a complicated life for the child and the parents.

Well, they ain't wrong. It definitely prevents life, complicated or otherwise.

I looked up religion in Iceland- expecting it to be zero Christians... was disappointed that over 62% are supposedly Christian.

Was NOT surprised they have universal healthcare.

People I have met with Downs syndrome are some of happiest and most joyful people I have ever met. Why on earth would anyone see that as a bad thing

We are friends with two different couples with children who have Down's. While i have no doubt there were/are challenges raising a child with Down's These children are 100% a blessing. They brighten every room.

Ultimately it’s the women’s choice to do the screening and choose abortion. Sounds like they have a lot of self absorbing women!

At what stage is it detected and the abortion occurs?

I’m really not trying to be a jackass here, but if we wanted to prevent complicated lives, shouldn’t we just abort all pregnancies? The human race is fricked.

I think the screening isn’t even done until around 12 weeks and abortion is allowed until the 22nd week.

And they give the parents a card with the baby’s foot prints to take home with them after the abortion.

Just because you have a fricked view of everything humanity doesn’t justify murder.

It's mandatory in Iceland because everyone is related there. Their numbers would be off the charts. It's a disgusting policy and I will never ever go there. Anyone who is pro life should never spend a dollar in that hell hole.

Idk if it has changed but the screening method isn't close to 100% accurate. There has been tons of normal kids aborted.

85% accuracy on test results.
