Oregon is 5-1

There are 8 coaches who have been fired/let go etc. in CFB as of now

3 of Oregon's 5 wins are against former teams of those 8 now fired coaches.

Okie St.
Oregon St.
Penn St.

I wonder what team has won the most games against coaches fired in the same season.

Sounds like Oregon is a program breaker.

Oddly enough, I remember reading an article locally here in NC that ECU faced 5 teams that fired their head coach last year. Just looked up the teams.

App State, Charlotte, Temple, FAU and Tulsa.

ETA: They lost to App State 21-19, so they only beat four of the five that fired coaches.

To be clear in case anyone else misunderstood like I did, all three of those programs fired their coach some time after the Oregon game—Oregon played them all with their former coaches still at the helm.

I halfway agree with the first reply. Oregon definitely broke Penn State. But I think Oklahoma State and Oregon State were doomed already.

This can't be understated... Penn State quit after that Super Bowl home Whiteout game....Franklin gonna finally show the world...everything was riding on that game and the players buying in.

Penn State boarded that plane to Los Angeles, already tapped out...and that's coaching...and that's why Franklin was ultimately fired. He couldn't hold the ear of his players with this fickle and fragile generation... Who bolt to other programs, at the first offer of more pay or playing time.

Penn State is a cautionary tale of the precarious road we've built for CFB to travel down and the reason great Coaches got out...turning around a program short-term has never been easier, building a program has never been harder. Players quit when they're not invested.

Attributing Penn State’s situation and futures to Oregon is wild

Gundy lasts a bit longer if he kept his mouth shut. Oregon’s team was reminded of the shite talk all week long and Lannings motivation was to break Gundy.

Oregon state is collateral damage by the current landscape and it’s unfortunate. There are teams in the Big that are on the same level but because they were already entrenched they survived. For now anyway.

Luke Fickell is next.

Wisconsin hosts Ohio State this weekend, then they travel to Eugene next weekend, followed by an open date.

All signs point to two embarrassing losses, followed by a coaching change during the bye week.

I think there were a few years when Tulane would get coaches fired after they beat someone.

Remember the phrase “Croomed”? That was when every coach who lost to Sylvester Croom would get fired.

I’m hoping the loss to Indiana plays as a fire for the oline. We got bullied and that shouldn’t happen with this team. Pass blocking was nowhere to be seen and run blocking wasn’t great either.

Not that Indiana is bad, I’ve thought they were legit the past two seasons, but I didn’t expect to get gotten up front like that

LSU played against 4 teams that fired their coach in 2017

Florida
Arkansas
Tennessee
Texas A&M

The last three were in a row to end the season
