Every news organization besides OAN has refused the new pentagon press pledge

Is our government willing to admit when something isn’t a good idea? Donald Trump has certainly shown the ability to adjust and change an approach when it doesn’t work, I wonder if we will see this here?
It’s one thing when all the organizations who don’t like you fight back, but when virtually every single news outlet sees this pledge as an overstep that won’t allow them to do their job, maybe the pentagon should listen?

18 U.S. Code § 1382, which forbids entering a military installation for any prohibited purpose. In addition to federal law, regulations set at the military installation level establish the specific rules for entry, which often include an escort requirement for non-military personnel in restricted areas. Actually the Pentagon is a restricted military area and they should not be allowed in without someone with a restricted area badge and escort privileges escorting them. Just like every other U.S. military base.

Organized and complicit is the American media. Pentagon can use OAN to deliver any and all press briefings to the "organised and complicit" members of the American press.
I pray Hegseth stands firm against these thumb suckers!!

And they can still do their job. They’re just pitching a tantrum because it’ll be harder. Boo fricking hoo
Separately, the news media achieving consensus is ideal. It eliminates any guesswork on who’s in the right

I don't want military or classified info getting out to the media. Some have shown the inability to use discretion on what they report to the public. This is not some whistle blower issue. Things get leaked out intentionally and unintentionally. Either way, it can effect national security.

We just going to gloss over the fact that every mainstream media outlet actively colluded with entrenched bureaucratic swamp scum to overthrow the duly-elected POTUS in 2020 and gleefully assisted in the gaslighting of the American people afterwards?
frick those parasites.

frick em. Try getting into any Fortune 100 business outside of the lobby without being vetted and badged. It is just good security practice.
Journalists stopped being upstanding examples of character decades ago.
Again, frick them and their feelings.

Yea that is crazy. I had a restricted area badge with escort privileges. Even military on a base are not allowed into restricted areas without a badge for that area. If you get caught in a restricted area with out it, they are not nice about it. Seen several military members get slammed to the ground and arrested.

The military, nor the government as a whole, is under any obligation to assist the media in doing their jobs.
The entire government media apparatus, from press conferences to media liaisons, to press junkets, to press releases is completely optional and not required by law.
The media is not required to be given ANY special access, besides abiding by any legally processed open records requests.

What about the new rules makes them "unreasonable". The new rules seem pretty reasonable. What am I missing?

I said this in the other thread. I have a broadcast Journalism background and I didn’t not find one unreasonable thing about the policy changes. I’ve always held the belief that there should be no special treatment given to a journalist that wouldn’t also be given to a typical citizen. I can’t roam freely around the pentagon….i don’t see why someone who works for MSNBC or FOX news should be able to.

As a follow up to my previous post….
All of this is correct.

I don’t understand defending the modern press at all.
They are not looking for truth. They are looking for political angles with which to harm the opposition.
Maybe instead think about why the press has opposition.

So everyone here is totally cool with the government having control over what the media can report?
Alright
